Research On Integrated Conservation Strategy Of Ming Great Wall Defense System

The Great Wall is acknowledged to be the architecture heritage with largest scale and widest distribution across the world.However,subjected to long-term natural erosion,man-made destruction,poor management and other problems,the Great Wall suffers from destruction on a large scale and even rapidly fades away.The conservation situation is rather worrisome.At present,all sectors of the society still lack integrated cognition about Great Wall cultural heritage and no effective conservation awareness and conservation strategies have been formulated around the ?defense system?.Under such circumstances,it is high time to take countermeasures and reinforce integrated conservation research and practice work.Ming Great Wall defense system is a hierarchical,systematic and complicated defense system collectively composed by Great Wall,station troop system,beacon-fire tower communication system and postal communication system.Based on the cognition about the authenticity and integrity of Ming Great Wall,the thesis takes military defense system as the research subject and explores its integrated conservation strategies and methods.The research adopts GIS space analysis,data processing,questionnaire,statistic analysis and other research methods to elaborately go into the information collection,value assessment,conservation demarcation,restoration strategy,conservation planning outline compilation involved in Ming Great Wall defense system on account of Great Wall-related historical documents,resource investigation statistics,and field investigation results.(1)It acquires comprehensive and authentic heritage information to establish a multi-level and multi-dimensional Ming Great Wall defense system basic information system and construct Ming Great Wall basic information database from space humanistic perspective;(2)It sets up an integrated Ming Great Wall cultural heritage value assessment system,gives qualitative description for intrinsic values,grade estimation for conservation values and quantitative evaluation for economic values,and formulates assessment contents,classification evidence,assessment standards and work flow in detail;(3)It proposes a hierarchical cross-district conservation management demarcation method based on historical partition and a systematic conservation scope determination method based on Ming Great Wall defense system from a macroscopic perspective;(4)It discusses about Ming Great Wall restoration concept and method and puts forward Great Wall restoration design method based on detailed mapping and damage analysis from a microscopic perspective;(5)In accordance with above research results,it summarizes the general principle of Ming Great Wall conservation outline,and takes Ming Great Wall defense system in Hebei district for example to set forth the principle from conservation subject,value assessment,cross-district plan strategy,systematic conservation scope demarcation,protection and restoration principle and exhibition and utilization strategy.Establishing Ming Great Wall defense system integrated conservation strategy is the urgent demand of Great Wall conservation management work in current stage.Research results of the research offer valid statistic support,technical support and conservation management evidence to Ming Great Wall conservation work.Furthermore,the research on Ming Great Wall defense system integrated conservation strategy has significant theoretical and realistic meaning to the reinforcement of the cognition about the authenticity and integrity of the Great Wall,the improvement of Great Wall integrated conservation principle and method,as well as the promotion of Great Wall cultural heritage values.
