The applications of some mature organic reactions in polymer synthesis always create new synthetic strategy.As a representative of the high efficient organic reactions,click reactions and some multicomponent reactions(MCRs)have become important tools for polymer synthesis.In the study of multicomponent reactions,we focus on the non-isocyanide-based MCRs and choose two MCRs,the Biginelli reaction and the mercaptoacetic acid locking imine reaction(MALI reaction),which can form new heterocyclic structure during the reaction.In this thesis,we explore the new applications of these reactions in functional polymer synthesis.Compared with other MCRs,the Biginelli reaction and the MALI reaction use common functional groups,and the generated heterocyclic structure can add new functions to synthetic polymers.Firstly,a new bifunctional AB monomer with both aldehyde group and ?-keto ester group was prepared,and the corresponding polycondensates can be synthesized via the Biginelli reaction,which confirm the efficiency of the Biginelli reaction.The new formed functional group affected the polymer physical properties,that the polycondensates have high stability and strong rigidity.Moreover,the polycondensates have strong interaction with metal,and can act as metal adhesive.Thus,the Biginelli reaction can be applied in new functional polymer synthesis.Secondly,thiolurea was performed Biginelli polycondensation instead of urea.The polycondensates can be regarded as a highly reactive polymer precursor due to the thiourea moiety in the polymer structure.The polycondensates can be easily modified through the post-polymerization modification strategy with various functional group to alter polymer's physical and optical properties,confirming the Biginelli polycondensates can be regarded a versatile platform for new functional polymer preparation.Thirdly,the drug activity of small Biginelli molecule is appreciated.The polymer-based prodrug containing the Biginelli drug is synthesized.The small Biginelli drug molecule can be released under the certain condition.The drug activities to the cancer cells of the prodrug are detailed studied.Besides the Biginelli reaction,the MALI reaction is proved as a modular,effective and atom economical reaction.Due to its nature,the MALI reaction was applied in the polymer end-group modification,polymer conjugation and the polycondensation.Thus,the MALI reaction can be regarded as a new green multicomponent click reaction and can be applied in several polymer synthetic strategies.According to these results,the Biginelli reaction and the MALI reaction greatly simplified some functional polymer synthesis process.These two reactions have a wide range of substrates,and can be performed under a variety of reaction conditions,which can make the MCRs have more applications,and become new tools in polymer synthetic chemistry.
