With the rapid development of modern wireless communication technology, the popularity of portable devices and the extensive use of low voltage devices, the growing demand for low voltage and low power has become an important trend. For the need of low voltage, low power consumption and small size, people hope that the front-end analogue mobile communication devices and back-end digital circuits can be integrated on one chip. But digital systems operating with voltage and low power are not suitable for the RF analogue circuits to work and thus generate new conflicts. Therefore, researchers are focusing on the design of low voltage, low power RF front-end analogue circuits in order to achieve single chip integration. The low noise amplifier(LNA)is the key module of wireless RF receiver front-end of a system, its performances such as noise, gain and so on directly affect the performance of the whole system. So a well-designed low voltage and low power low noise amplifier has very great significance to the whole system performances. The power amplifier(PA)is the key module of wireless RF transmitter front-end of a system, its performances such as output power, power added efficiency and linearity directly affect the performance of the whole transmitter system. So a well-designed low voltage, low power and good performance power amplifier has very great significance to the whole system performances.IEEE802.11a has many advantage such as high channel transmitting speed, big volume and no overlap channel. This paper focus on the deep study of the low noise amplifier and power amplifier in wireless RF transceiver front-end system. And the paper analyses and designs the IEEE802.11a RF narrow band and wide band low noise amplifier and power amplifier. The completed work is as follows:(1)Based on the WLAN IEEE 802.11a low noise amplifiers published previously,a novel low power consumption low noise amplifier which works at 5.8GHz is proposed. The signal passes the LC network and common source transistor, then the signal passes cascade stage and NMOS current mirror using inductor peaking technique to achieve amplification. The proposed LNA realizes the relative high gain and at the same time realizes the low voltage and low power consumption.Compared to the low noise amplifiers whose working frequency is 5.8GHz or other similar frequencies, the proposed low noise amplifier shows advantages of higher gain, lower noise figure, and better matching performances.(2)Based on the WLAN IEEE 802.11a low noise amplifiers mentioned above,a WLAN IEEE802.11a low power consumption wide band low noise amplifier whose working frequency band ranges from 4.7GHz to 6GHz is proposed. The signal passes the common-gate CMOS transistor to realize good input matching. Then the signal passes cascade stage using current-reuse technique and PMOS current mirror using inductor series peaking technique to achieve the high gain, low voltage and low power.Compared to the low noise amplifiers which shares the same or similar working frequency band, the low noise amplifier proposed shows some advantages of higher gain, lower noise figure, better matching performances.(3)A novel low power consumption wide band low noise amplifier whose working frequency band ranges from 5GHz to 6GHz is proposed. The LNA uses cascade stage using shunt-peaking and forward body biasing technique as the input stage, and NMOS current mirror with current feedback structure as the second stage to achieve the high gain, low voltage and low power.Compared to the low noise amplifiers which shares the same or similar working frequency band, the low noise amplifier proposed shows some advantages of higher gain, lower noise figure, better matching performances.(4)Based on the WLAN IEEE802.11a low noise amplifiers mentioned above,a novel low power consumption power amplifier which works at 5.7GHz is proposed. The power amplifier uses RC feedback structure to improve the linearity.Besides, the power amplifier uses self-biasing and forward body biasing technique to overcome the problem of voltage breaking down and at the same time to lower voltage.Compared to the power amplifiers which shares the same or similar working frequency band, the power amplifier proposed shows some advantages of higher output power, higher power added efficiency and lower voltage.
