Research On The Public Health Of Modern Chinese Red Cross

Public health condition of modern China is bad,such as filthy environment,unclean food,health consciousness licking,low medical technology,coursed people with high mortality rate.In 1863,marked with the setting up of the international Committee for the disabled ambulance,the Red Cross was born.Based on war ambulance,the Red Cross did not involved in public health work initially.After it realized its aim of the humanitarian were same with the concept of public health,public health was gradually incorporated into the routine work of the Red Cross.Under a special sanitary conditions and the prompting of humanitarian mission in modern China,the Red Cross Society of China started a career in public health.Since the late Qing Dynasty to the end of the republic of China,public health of the Red Cross Society of China developed in four stages: laying off,rapid development,self-motivated forward and comprehensive development.Red Cross health system had developed from a “generalization” to “classify”;the number of health institutions developed from “spark” to “a potential of fire”;health personnel training transpoted from “medical responsibility” to “health talent”;business content developed from a single “plague will hapen protection” to “comprehensive social services”.The four aspects showed the four stages outline of the evolution of public health in modern China Red Cross.The Red Cross Society of China mainly had four developments of public health in disease prevention,health propaganda and education,refugee health,maternal and child health.Disease prevention and control formally incorporated into the Red Cross job category since 1912 as the official start of the Red Cross society of China public health.In order to ensure this work smoothly,the Chinese Red Cross hospital set up some permanent and temporary public hospitals for epidemic prevention,in ordinary times to carry out the vaccinations,injection prevention pestilence potions,when epidemic raged,they set up a pestilence hospital and send the rescue team in disease treatment.Disease prevention and control work reflected the publicness of public health: the medical rights sharing,benefit the poor;prevention together with treatment,mainly to prevent;urban with rural and from cities to villages;doctor-patient’s communion during epidemic prevention.Health propaganda education work formally developed since the 1920 s,and the theory of health education mainly for health education before the war by the people of the Red Cross in the editing and journal of the Red Cross society of China health “filler”,including disease prevention,diet health,daily care and so on.After the war,the Red Cross combined theory and practice,following a pre-war theory of health promotion,at the same time,promoting the refugee health education and training the adolescent health of the Red Cross.Refugee health during the Anti-Japanese War was established by the Chinese Red Cross association personnel organization——sino-foreign philanthropists leaved in Shanghai.Shanghai International Red Cross set up refugee rescue committee,the medical commission and refugee health organizations.At the same time,it combined the Chinese medical association and Shanghai municipal health department to set up Shanghai disease prevention committee and refugee health cooperation committee,improved refugee shelters environmental health,implemented disease prevention and control of refugees,payed attention to diet health of refugees,etc.At the end of 1938,after refugee health work of the Shanghai International Red Cross have stopped,the Red Cross Society of China continued the medical commission’s work,until the Shanghai shelter disbanded and the refugees evacuated.Maternal and child health work was really implemented during the demobilization period.The Red Cross Society of China set up the women’s department in 1936,however,because of the war,it is only a name until the demobilization.In fact,the Red Cross hospital’s delivering work before and the women’s and children’s physical examination in maternity hospitals of the Shanghai International Red Cross during the period of Anti-Japanese War of had paved the way for the women’s and children’s work of demobilization period.After demobilization,the Red Cross Society of China relied on around the branch hospital,clinic,nursing school,maternity school carried out the work,in order to ensure the work orderly,established relating system.After careful planning,maternal and child health clubs worked orderly,for women,training them in health,advancing science delivering,for children,establishing child nutrition station,implementing the competition of children’s health,etc.By the help of the efforts of the Red Cross Society of China and related organizations,the public health of the Red Cross Society of China made some achievements.In the course of the Red Cross Society of China promoting Work and its development of public health career,along with the domestic environmental changes and the career development needs of itself,significant changes in public health happened.Its change characteristics mainly included: the work done by the “monopoly” to “branch to complete”,working changed from “negative action” to “initiative”,working methods developed from “solo” to “social participation”.The Red Cross Society of China’s efforts in promoting public health in modern China got its own place now.Tt spread the concept of international public health and guided to establish China’s public medical system,advanced the city health work,promoted the development of rural public health,had great significance to the modern China’s public health.Of course,this process was not all plain sailing.The Red Cross Society of China had faced manpower and financial resources problems,housing problems,work effectiveness problem,the sign of the Red Cross problem,etc.Chasing the causes,on one hand,many natural disasters happened in modern China and the Red Cross Society of China rescued disaster with limited human material and financial resources,and in modern China there was insufficient attention to public health and low input;on the other hand,it’s limited to the Red Cross society of China’s own group.Therefore,the Red Cross Society of China realized its own value in the twists and turns,promoted the development of public health in modern China.
