In the theory and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, "wind", as a basic concept is very common. And the Chinese medicine terminology about "wind" is too numerous to be mentioned. In order to increase the connection between clinic and theory, the author believes a depth research on the origin concept and theory of "wind" in traditional Chinese medicine will be meaningful for the development of traditional Chinese medicine. According to research on the original concept of "wind", the advancing process of the concept can be roughly divided into three stages:the first stage is called the origin of "wind", the time period ranges from the original Chinese culture works to the Huangdi’s Internal Classic, it is mainly used in a variety of divination system and reflects the concept of nature and human unity, "wind" has different meanings and functions in different divination. The first phase of origins, from the original Chinese culture works to the Huangdi’s Internal Classic, wind mainly records the direction of wind in the nature, and to speculate about the good or ill luck by identifying the wind, and to reflects the nature. Gradually, the "wind" riches its content in different divination system. Then it comes to the mature stage of "wind" theory, the period defined before Huangdi’s Internal Classic in Song dynasty and experienced more than 1000 years of evolution. The content of "wind" gradually changes from the natural phenomena into a more concise and dynamic definition. It bases on the combination of clinical pathological characteristics with etiology, using grammatical metaphor to call it as "wind pathogen". It is the establishment of medical classics and comes in many features, such as:the five elements theory, the four composition theory, and the theory of five movements and six dlimates with other kinds of divination calculation. The different theory of "wind" has been developed to the limit with complete explanation, and being referred as the acknowledgement in any literatures. The more the expansion of the theory of "wind", the more boundless it becomes, which leads to overuse and abuse. The effect of two sides has a positive effect, but also remains to be a question. The next stage is integration and specification, from the early Song dynasty to the late Qing dynasty, this 1000 years of time has made huge changes. Before this, it is generally recognized that only external wind exists, but during this stage, theory of internal wind is created. The contention of a hundred schools of thought requires the concept of "wind" in traditional Chinese medicine to change and organized. The famous doctors in the following modern years make it more relevant to clinic. They think internal wind is not caused by external disease, is "the body condition declination result", and the pathogenesis should be given priority to. The wind dispelling method and medicine becoming more professional, is the significant symbol of that time. From the three stages, it explains the origins of the "wind", the changes, and the integration application. It changes gradually from the original natural phenomena to a divination concept, and then becames a basic concept of theoretical system in Huangdi’s Internal Classic era. The main five elements concept has been dominated the overall framework of traditional Chinese medicine for one thousand years, it is only the content being continuous developed and adjusted to all kinds of pathogenesis. In the theory six evils, the wind is easily combined or confused with a variety of other pathogens, to explain a variety of clinical phenomenon, whether its reasonable or not. Until the introduction of western medicine, the cause of the external wind and external wind is confirmed in real etiology and pathogenesis, and the theory of "wind" also becomes an important basic foundation of traditional Chinese medicine. This paper is intended to explore the origin of the "wind" with the theory of "wind", and discusses the theory of "wind" in Huangdi’s Internal Classic. The theory of "wind" in Huangdi’s Internal Classic seems to be too broad in definition, and should be modified or questioned, in the author’s mind; if without any doubt in the theory, it would conflict with the classical work of Treatise on Febrile Diseases by Zhang Zhongjing in Han dynasty. Zhang Zhongjing defines the "wind" and its specification in a different angle. The cold and stroke syndrome of taiyang channel should be relieved with pungent and warm natured drugs such as ephedra decoction, to resolve the flesh and dispel the wind should use ramuli cinnamomi decoction. The treatment medicine in Han dynasty for wind disease is mostly pungent and warm natured drugs. In view of this characteristic, the author studies the definition of wind disease and begin to have doubt about the domestic research status of "wind"disease, and believe there is no need to inherit the idea of "wind is Yang disease", instead, regard it as Yin disease. The article aims to confirm that Huangdi’s Internal Classic is contradict with the concept of Treatise on Febrile Diseases on the concept of wind disease, and analyzes the concept of "wind" in this two classic and puts forward self view, and proposes the characteristics of "wind" of Zhang Zhongjing and the reason for the definition in Treatise on Febrile Diseases. It researches on the "wind" and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of Yang and Yin. This problem conflicts with the traditional theory, and will be reasonable explained in the following content. In Yuan and Qing dynasty, a new concept of internal wind arises and it also discusses the treatment, drugs, and the definition of wind expelling medicine. There are many "wind" disease are just by excessive metaphor of clinical disease and cannot be regarded separately as cause. To recognize the internal wind is to understand that not all stroke and dizziness are caused by internal wind. As what Zhang Jingyue said in Ming dynasty, it is too exaggerate to clear "internal wind", and what people should do is to pay attention to its etiology and pathogenesis.
