Objective To build3D finite element models of osteoporotic, osteoporotic fractures before and after PVP (Percutancous vertebroplasty), and cement leakage into the disc after PVP, and verify its efficiency. Anslyze the biomechanical change of them. Methods We first collected medical image based on the slices from CT scanning of the clinic cases. the images were pretrated in the Mimics software, then the datas were submit to analysis with the ABAQUS software, three-dimensional finite element model of osteoporotic, osteoporotic fractures before and after PVP (Percutancous vertebroplasty), and cement leakage into the disc after PVP were built. The models was composed of the bony vertebrae, articulating facets, intervertebral disc, and associated ligaments, The basic stress analysis of two motion segment was made, under the considerations of different material properties of bone, ligamentsmand facet joints contacting frictional property. The stress on the intervertebra discs, endplate and so on under axial pressure (0.3MPaã€1.0MPaã€4.0MPa) were analysed. The stress change on adjacent intervertebral levels were also got. Results A three-dimensional finite element model of osteoporotic, osteoporotic fractures before and after PVP(Percutancous vertebroplasty), and cement leakage into the disc after PVP were built. In the model of osteoporotic fractures before and after PVP, the stress was increase after injecting bone cement, but the distribution was not changed. In the model of cement leakage into the disc after PVP, the stress in the adjacent intervertebral levels increased. Conclusions Our3D finite element model of osteoporotic, osteoporotic fractures before and after PVP were estsblished successfully, the stress analysis of its were feasible and reliable. |
