With the development of wireless communication techniques and the increas-ing service requirement by people, large scale ad hoc networks are getting moreand more attention for their importance of application. Wireless ad hoc net-works have the character of easy deployment, convenient maintenance, cheaperprice, and it employs multihop transmission from source nodes to their desti-nations. For large scale wireless networks, because of its self-organize feature,it becomes a challenge problem for how to provide efcient and satisfying datarate. It has theoretical directive signifcance for analyzing the capacity of largescale wireless networks with achievable routing and scheduling strategies. In thispaper, we mainly consider the capacity of large scale wireless networks with di-rectional antenna and delay constraint. We provide the network capacity fordiferent transmission modes and application situations with achievable routingand scheduling strategies. For the unicast capacity of large scale wireless networks with directional an-tenna and delay constraint, we are the frst to systematic study the problem ofcapacity for nodes equipped with directional antenna and with a maximum-L-hop resource strategy. Based on the framework of network information theory,we consider the improvement of network capacity by using directional antennaand introducing base stations, and analyzing the impact of delay constraint. Weintroduce two kind of transmission modes switched hybrid transmission mod-el, and eliminating the infuences of interferences by using directional antennatechnology. We provide the asymptotic closed formulae with directional antennaand delay constraint. And we analyze the relationship between the network ca-pacity and system parameters, such as the end to end delay, the beamwidth of directional antenna and the number of base stations. For the multicast capacity of large scale mobile networks with directionalantenna and delay constraint, we introduce the directional transmitting and di-rectional receiving communication mode of mobile ad hoc networks with delayconstraint. We prove the asymptotic upper bound for multicast capacity, andshow the close form formulae with network formulae. We give the existence ofan achievable coding-scheduling algorithm, and provide theoretical basement forusing improved Raptor coding technology to fulfll the network capacity. For the multicast capacity of vehicular networks, we adopt the frame workof network information theory and asymptotic method to study the capacityof vehicular networks with two diferent mobility models and two diferent timescale, respectively. Based on the analysis of two dimensional fast mobility model,we construct more suitable one dimensional slow mobility model for the realvehicular networks. We are the frst to study the multicast capacity of vehicularnetworks with end to end delay constraint and directional transmission. Atlast, we analyze the system parameters impact on the network capacity, such asthe number of base stations, the directional antenna beamwidth, and the delayconstraint.
