Research Of "Ban Xia Xie Xin Jia Wei" Decoction Combined With Acupuncture To Treat The Intermingling Of Cold And Heat Pathological Basis Of Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease And Its Clinical Curative Effect

Objective:This research is based on the common syndromes of the gastroesophageal reflux diseases in Singapore. It explores the intermingling of cold and heat pathological basis of gastroesophageal reflux disease. In addition, "banxiaxiexinjiawei" decoction was combined with acupuncture to further the disease along with its clinical curative effect. Patient had shown quality of life improvement; hence this unique treatment gastroesophageal reflux disease is effective as it can counter the clinical curative effect as objectively seen from the clinical evaluation result.Method:By using a combination of theoretical research and clinical study methods, guided by both the theory of TCM and Western medical knowledge, this paper explores traditional and modern medicines for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It also creates awareness of the induction of the disease pathogenesis and development characteristics, providing a theoretical basis for clinical study and treatment. In clinical study aspects, "banxiaxiexinjiawei" decoction is combined with acupuncture therapy and improvement in quality of life and progress in health status was observed, thus proving the effectiveness of treatment methods.Results:The treatment group has achieved a result of 100% effective rate; whereas the control group has derived a total result of 98.18% of effective rate. Comparing total efficiency and effective rates between the two groups, there were no significant difference statistically. Thus, the difference in the two group total effective rate cannot be considered. The total symptom scores before and after treatment have shown significant difference in both groups, which means the symptoms score for the patients of both groups have improved significantly. However there is no significant difference in terms of comparison of the total symptom score between the treatment and control groups. In terms of individual symptom score, before and after treatment, the symptom scores were significantly different for both groups. This indicates that the treatment of primary symptoms before and after the treatment have improved significantly for both groups, however, there is no obvious difference in terms of comparison between the two groups. In terms of quality of life score, total score comparison on quality of life between the two groups after treatment have shown a very significant difference. This shows that the quality of life in both treatment group and control group has improved significantly, but there are no obvious differences between the two groups in comparison of the total score of quality of life between the two groups.Conclusion:The "banxiaxiexinjiawei" decoction is an effective method for the treatment of intermingling of cold and heat for gastroesophageal reflux diseases. It significantly improves patient’s gastro-symptoms condition and increase the quality of patient’s life. Therefore, this application is worth promoting.
