| Purpose:To discuss the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine about diabetic retinopathy and use the method of Bushen Hua Yu to treat diabetic retinopathy. Through the randomly controlled clinical trial, the differences between two groups of patients’blood sugar, HbAlc, visual ability, the number of retinal microaneurysm, exudate, and exudate area change was observed, By analyzing the differences, this paper attempts to explore the mechanism of Diabetic retinopathy and the way to prevent it.Methods:A randomized, controlled trial was conducted60patients with diabetic retinopathy. The participants of this research were randomly classified into two groups:treated group (n=30) and controlled group (n=30). Both two groups were under the basic of normal treatment and Western medicine. The difference of the two groups is, however, treated group were treated by Chinese medicine (Qijudihuang pill and Taohongsiwutang) while the patients of controlled group were not. Four weeks was a course of treatment, and there were six courses in the clinical trial. The observed indexes included both curative effect indexes, such as clinic symptoms, blood sugar, HbAlc, visual ability, the number of retinal microaneurysm, exudate, exudate area change, safety indexes, and harmful reaction. The complete data carries on statistics analysis by the SPSS16.0statistics software. Results:Total diabetic retinopathy patients number was sixty (treated group, n=30and controlled group, n=30). Prior treatment, the sex, age, course of disease, body height, body weight, fasting blood sugar, HbAlc, Chinese medicine clinical symptoms had no differences in two groups.(1) The total Chinese medicine clinical symptoms effective rate of treated group patients was86.66%; while the controlled group was66.66%. This result showed that the treated group had an advantage over the controlled group (p<0.05).(2) There was a decrease in glucose and HbAlc in the both two groups (p<0.01); however, the two figures of the treated group had decreased more significantly than those of the controlled groups, in blood sugar (p <0.01), in HbAlc (p<0.05).(3) In visual ability, although both group improved after the treatment (treated group:p<0.01, controlled group:p<0.05), the treated group was better than the controlled group (p<0.05). Retinopathy effective advantage rate of the treated group was76.66%, while that of the controlled group was65.00%. This again showed the treated group was better than the controlled group (p<0.05).(4) Safety index:the liver function, renal function, urine routine, blood routine, and stool routine were within normal limit. Both groups had no side effect. Conclusion:The study may be of importance in using the method of Chinese medicine in Bushen Hua Yu to treat diabetic retinopathy. On the previous clinical research results and lysis, Bushen Hua Yu had high efficacy in treating diabetic retinopathy. This area is worth studying deeply and developing further. |
