Profiling the regional innovation system is important for both the research on the innovation theories and the development of regional economy. This dissertation holds that the regional innovation system consists of industrial innovation subsystems. The contents, scope, performance and etc of the regional technology innovation have strong relation with the regional industry structure. To develop an innovation subsystem, the regional industries have to meet certain requirements. Moreover, the capacity and efficiency of the regional innovation system are affected by the efficiency of those subsystems, their interrelations and interactions. On this premise, this dissertation defines the regional industrial innovation subsystem as an innovation pole and regards the regional innovation system as a symbiosisevolution system of the multi-innovation poles. The following researches have been carried out.First, this dissertation defines the innovation pole and studies the structure, characteristics and functions of the innovation poles; analyze the internal and external conditions to nurturing an innovation pole; proposes the critical scope for both the innovation performance and the knowledge spill over. Then it analyzes the types of the innovation poles based on the different classification criteria.Second, taking into account the sociality of the network of innovation poles, making use of the social network analysis methods, this dissertation creates the individual network index system and the entire network index system, and data -acquiring methods. Then it presents the empirical study on the innovation pole of the steel industry in Tangshan and in Handan.Third, considering the correlation among the innovation poles, defines the spill over of the innovation pole, establishes the criterion, builds up the regression model and then analyzes the innovation spill over probability among the innovation poles. Then it presents the empirical study on the innovation spill over among the innovation poles of the steel, ceramic, coal, chemical and mechanical industries in Tangshan city and the steel industry in Handan city Finally, this dissertation analyzes the cause of formation and the drivers for the symbiosis among different innovation poles. By the ecological theory and methods this dissertation analyzes the symbiosis among different innovation poles. By means of natural population dynamics this dissertation builds up the dynamic model of the multi-innovation poles symbiosisevolution system, and makes the simulation study of the six symbiotic modes among the innovation poles: mutualism, commensalism, parasitism independency and etc. This dissertation builds up the dynamic multi-innovation poles symbiosisevolution model in the regional innovation system with the constraints of the innovation resources, and makes the simulation study in two situations: decreasing and increasing the innovation resource. This dissertation also builds up the dynamic multi-innovation poles evolution model on the condition of inbreaking of new innovation pole and makes the simulation study on both the failure and success of the invader.
