A Study On The Sustainable Development Of Petrochemical Industry In China

With the rapid development of the national economy and the improvement of people's living standards, China's oil consumption has increased rapidly. As an important supplier of the energy and raw chemical materials, petrochemical industry plays a decisive role in China's industrial and agricultural development, even in the national economy as a whole. China is the largest developing country in the world, it is in the phase of rapid development of the heavy chemical industry and the process of accelerated urbanization. At present, China is mainly specialized in the manufacturing industry, which is at the lower end of the international division of labor. This leads to the high oil consumption density. Since limited capacity both in natural resources and exploration, China heavily depends on the overseas world for resources. This has brought tremendous pressure to the resources and environment. The industry's sustainable development has been constrained not only by organizational structrure, natural resources, industrial policies and consumer's habits, environmental conditions, technical support and other factors. Facing ever-intensified international competition after opening the domestic market to the world, it is urgent to find a way to achieve sustainable development of China's petrochemical industry. Therefore, it is of great realistic significance to analyze the development status of China's petrochemical industry, to evaluate the sustainable development of China's petrochemical industry, to study the challenges China's petrochemical industry is facing with, and to establish some proper strategies to realize the coordinated development of economy and society for the perspectives of government, industries, the individuals.This article starts by summarizing the historical development and present situation of Chinese petrochemical industry. The systematic analysis of Chinese petrochemical industry in respective of industrial organization, refining, consumption as well as import-export trade evolutions gives you better understanding of Chinese petrochemical industry. By using the value chain analysis method, this article evaluates the current situation of Chinese petrochemical industrial sustainable development. By applying the system dynamic theory and some other economic theories, this article analyzes the key factors which affect sustainable development of China's petrochemical industry. On this basis, the application of the theory of circular economy, coupled with China's actual situation paves the way for the developmentmodel as"eco-industrial Park, enterprises, industrial/ social base"; Finally, based on the strategic objectives for the future development of petrochemical industry in China, this paper gives some suggestions on the countermeasures for the government, industry and enterprises.This paper is to classify the problems and its root causes which hamper the development of China's petrochemical industry and seek the systematic solution for the sustainable development of petrochemical industry in China.
