The display with different display modes is necessary in normal life. The developing laser display raises high attention internationally. Although with many advantages, these rising displayers also have many disadvantages which need to be improved. And much more energy need to be put into the laser display development.In this article, the gamut of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) was expanded in order to change the"color blindness"in LCD. Then the method based on image naturalness and colorfulness was raised to tensile image after the expend of LCD gamut in order to make the color of image more natural and abundant. This algorithm adopts different processing methods on the basis of different contributions of image brightness, contrast and saturation. For brightness, an adaptive enhancement algorithm based on saturation feedback and human visual system was used. After image enhancement, brightness was greatly improved without lost of image colorfulness. For contrast component, an enhanced algorithm based on image spatial frequency in four directions was used to calculate image contrast enhance rate. The color image handled with these methods will have high saturation and definition. And for saturation component of color image, maximum saturation of corresponded random color in XIEXYZ system was confirmed. Then this color saturation will be confirmed due to saturation calculation method in this system. To transform saturation component dynamic range, the nonlinear extention was used. Color image after processed is more flamboyant and polycharome and with less"cloud mud"and better vision effect. This image processing algorithm applied in LCD image processing unit will be better for LCD color restoration abilities and a color image more adaptable for human visual system will be attained.Because of the wide-gamut, high brightness and high color-saturation, laser display will lead in this field in the near future. Firstly in this article, a laser display system with laser LD array backlights was put forward. Then a laser gamut calibration based on CIELab spatial standard was developed and a 3-D data look-up table from 3 primary colors in CRT to 3 primary colors in LD was confirmed. And an algorithm searching data was made for color difference error analysis after transformation. Finally,"virtual expandsion"was used in mapped gamut ,so the color distribution maps before and after expandsion are gained. From"virtual expandsion", laser characteristics such as wide-gamut,high corlor-saturation are fully displayed. And the reproduced image color is more flamboyant, polychrome and vivid.
