As an application of organic photovoltaic (PV) devices, organic ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors present the advantages of low manufacturing cost, large detection area, and easy hybridization, and promise to integrate together with other electronic or optical components including chemical/biomedical analysis, full color digital image sensing and high energy radiation detection. In this work, the performance of ultraviolet-A (UVA) photodetectors based on organic photovoltaic diodes has been investigated. Firstly, photodetector using CuPc as electron acceptor, which obtained better PV character, as well as the performance changed with the UV intensity, was reported for the first time. Secondly, the forming of exciplex makes UV detectors of BCP and Sc(DBM)3bath as electron acceptor better capability. Due to increasing the contact area between donor and acceptor, the forming and emitting of exciplex became stronger and the character of detector got better, so the relationship between forming of exciplex and performance of detector was analyzed. At same time, the UV detector also has EL character. Last, tris-8-hydroxyquinoline lanthanide metal chelate complexes with central metal ions of La3+ (4f0), Ga3+ (4f7), and Lu3+ (4f14), because of being excellent electron transporter and electron acceptor and their absorption spectrum located at UV...
