Although the Dunhuang Manuscripts are massively related to the Buddhaism scriptures, the Daoist scriptures as well as the social economic works , and then instead of Confucianism classical scripture doesn't occupy so much, the Dunhuang classical manuscripts still have its inestimable value in the classical works' study for the reason that the study of the classical works is always playing an important role in the Chinese traditional culture research.As soon as the Dunhuang Manuscripts were discovered, the academic persons studied the classical part wrote foreword and postscript and publicized the photocopies and transcripts in time. Before last century's 30's, the most contributed persons were Liu, Shipei (刘师培) and Luo, Zhenyu (罗振玉) . During 30's to 50's, the biggest achievement belongs to Wang, Zhongmin (王 重民) . His work " Descriptive Catalog of the Dunhuang Ancient books " has an epoch-making significance in Dunhuang classical manuscripts research. After the 60's, the most contributed individual is Chen, Tiefan (陈铁凡) who collected classical manuscripts and introduced them after classification. Afterwards, although Dunhuang photocopies are announced unceasingly and the research condition improves constantly, and also many achievements of Dunhuang classical manuscripts' studies were published, no comprehensive introduction and summary appeared, this has seriously restricted the progress of Dunhuang study and affected the development of the entire classical works' research. Many delayed and repeated research have been happened/done and even wrong conclusions identified by academe are quoted.According to the 320 copies found in the Mogao Cave and 200 articles written by scholars of different countries since 100 years ago, the author wrote the descriptive catalog for every manuscripts after careful studies.The descriptive catalog contains the following content:1, Name the manuscript acurately.2, Introduce the beginning and ending of each manuscript, the quantity of lines. And mark its beginning and ending pages' and lines' quantity in their popular version.3, Cohere the manuscript with broken parts.4, Study the transcript time of the manuscript.5, Give examples of valued and creative research, evaluate and correct wrong statements.6, Give published information of this manuscript such as the published volume amount and range of pages in photocopies and transcript.7, List the related work which has not been mentioned in the catalog text.
