Debate Of The Divergent: Marxism And Existentialism

Understanding of Marxism was not irrevocable. The relationship between Marxism and Existentialism is an important theoretical issue when one tries to maintain a correct and comprehensive understanding on Marxism.Existentialism-understanding on is not able to occupy the theoretical mainstream. Existentialism- Marxism has been "bankrupt" in the last century, but the understanding does not vanish around the world, in particular, and some of the issues against the capitalist society itself still has its practical significance today. Such questions still exist in a certain range and varying degrees after the three decades of practice of reforming and opening-up in China, which answers to these questions still have practical and theoretical significance for us to understand Marxism theory and the change of Marxism's substance correctly today.This paper starts to analyze and sort out the "Existentialism"- understanding of Marxism, and analyses the debating line on major issues such as existence, human , practice and disassimilation theory. Marxism and Existentialism are fundamentally different on these problems. From the fundamental point of view, non-rational Existentialism cannot be away from the nature of their idealism, and the opinion of Marxism is historical materialism.In this paper, I try to analyse the relationship of Marxism and Humanism and study the changes of Marx's idea before and after 1845. In fact, even the early Marx on disassimilation is also fundamentally different to Existentialism. I try to understand the Existentialism impact on Marxism on the basis of the essential difference between Existentialism and Marxism,during the debating of major issues such as existence, human , practice and disassimilation theory, and criticize Existentialism and the Existentialism-Marxism theory tendency appeared in the reality. Existentialism-Marxists consider the basic question of philosophy should be "existence" question, there is only the existence of individuals, referring to the loneliness of the individual non-rational emotional experience. Marxism believes that there is an objective existence, not depending on people's will. Therefore, the existence of Existentialism is existence of individuals always always from the society, from the history. It is an abstract existence. The Existentialism-Marxist puts the lonely individuals as a starting point, and the human existence is the base and primitive of all of the existence when facing the world. The abstract human has become the base of Existentialism theory.Human has become an abstract "lonely individual" out of society and out of human history. Human in Marxists' understanding is real human, which constitutes Marxism's basic theoretical premise and starting point. "Practice" of Existentialism-Marxism is the practice of isolated individuals which is divorced from the social production relations, and denies the constraints of social and historical laws on human. Marxism considers social practice as human's emotional substantial activity. To disassimilation question's understanding, Existentialism-Marxists consider it as human's existence and human's essence's separation, and disassimilation exists natural and eternal. Marxism had affirmed the system root of disassimilation, and disassimilation is one kind of social history phenomenon.Non- rational Existentialism is not" Marxism Existentialism" , but Marxists should not negate Existentialism totally, but to persist in seeking truth from facts and have the attitude of a specific analysis. Therefore, from another angle we may see that there is a certain extent, made up of a number of modern society emerging issues, also noted that Marxism neglected or who have not been given due attention, and therefore his criticism and solutions. Therefore, from another angle we may see that existentialism proposed some newly question to a certain extent in modern society, and also noted the aspect which neglected or or who have not been given serious attention, and therefore gave their own criticism and the solution. In that sense, we want to be sure and learn from it which will have a certain positive theoretical significance in dealing with them.This article mainly displays in the argument of the main theory questions between Marxism and Existentialism, as well as understandings of relations of Marxism and existentialism. This article believed that there is basic difference in the subject of existence, human as well as practice view, disassimilation theory and so on between Existentialism and Marxism. Some principles of Existentialism still have its existence value in today and be absorbed by other schools of modern West philosophy.
