| Sustainable development is just the theme of foreign direct investment in the 21'st century. Using theories and methods concerns on regional economic geography, regional economics, international investment, and sustainable development economics, the thesis systemically expounds the theoretic relations between foreign direct investment and sustainable development of regional economy. A new model of taking advantage of foreign direct investment entitled Fore-forward Model of Utilizing Foreign Direct Investment (FFMUFDI) is put forward here, which aims at facilitating host countries' sustainable development of regional economy. On the base of the foregoing works, adopting theoretical and empirical methods, together with quantity analysis and quality description methods, the thesis systematically analyzes the effects of foreign direct investment in Chongqing. The Fore-forward regulating strategy of utilizing foreign direct investment is also brought forward to promoting sustainable development in Chongqing. The thesis theoretically enriches the fields and contents of human geographical research on international investment, and it shows practical significance for Chongqing or others to utilize foreign direct investment. The dissertation consists of three parts, namely, foreword, text and conclusion.Foreword, briefly clarifies the concept of foreign direct investment and our opinions. Based on the recapitulation of the present situations on relations between foreign direct investment and regional economic development, it points out that research on the effect of foreign direct investment in host countries and regions, from the angle of sustainable development, has practical and theoretic meanings for human geography and international investment. The train of thought and methods for our future research is furthered on either. The text comprises five chapters. Chapter â… mainly reviews the relevant theories on foreign direct investment, and points out each theory's strongpoint and shortage objectively. The traditional theories of foreign direct investment evidently stand for developed countries' and Multinational Corporations' interests, meanwhile, the theories of development economics on the effects of foreign direct investment in host counties run into extreme. It is clearly necessary to go deep into the research on the effects of foreign direct investment in host counties. The evolvement of the concept of development and the meaning of economic sustainable development is also expatiated here, and the emphasis of our study brings up the rear.Chapter â…¡ centers on the theoretical relations between foreign direct investment and economic sustainable development. Firstly, we reveal the function mechanism in six aspects. Secondly, we bring to light the dynamic mechanism between both, which is comprised by the demand mechanism of host counties' sustainable development aim and the supply mechanism of foreign direct investment. Thirdly, we expound the impacts of foreign direct investment on the buildup of regional economic sustainable development. Lastly, we analyze the evolving roles of foreign direct investment affecting on regional economic sustainable development in three aspects.Chapter â…¢ discusses in detail on the new model of utilizing foreign direct investment, namely Fore-forward Model of Utilizing foreign direct investment (FFMUFDI), which targets for regional economic sustainable development. The FFMUFDI is originated from economic cybernetics, and possesses advantages of fore-forward regulation that feedback model doesn't have. The system purpose, system rules, system variables, system estimation, fore-forward regulation, and the system feedback of FFMUFDI are expatiated here. In this part we put forward the concept of Influence Index of Foreign Direct Investment (IIFDI), together with a comprehensive multi-index system to appraise the influence of foreign direct investment in host countries accurately.Chapter â…£ concerns on the practical research on the foreign direct investment in Chongqing.
