Beijing School criticism consists of literature criticism and other kinds of art criticism. As far as literature criticism is concerned, it is involved with ancient Chinese literature criticism, foreign literature criticism, and the criticism that literature combines together at all times and in all over the world except the modem literature criticism. This piece of dissertation discourses upon macroscopical history of modem literature. Among it I prefer ideological trend of literature history, history of the literary creation and academic research history of literature to the history of culture, thought and theory of literature history. I try to make a objective analysis of dialogic relations between Beijing School criticism and the modem Chinese literature history with the fresh viewpoint, method, and historical data At the same time I want to make a summary of Beijing School criticism's characteristic and operation mode. I hope what I have done can give a good break to the contemporary literature criticism.Beijing School is a concept that is named and expounded for long time. I do not preface my dissertation by the insignificant textual research of the concept of Beijing School, but the simple analyzation of the culture psychology of Beijing School's being accepted I do not think Beijing School is some "school", I think it is only one section of free and beautiful literature imagination. I think literature and literature criticism are unattached to each other and the dialogic relations between them are the best Surely there are some dialogic relations that have a characteristic and worthy of studying between Beijing School criticism and the modem Chinese literature history.The first chapter discourses upon Beijing School criticism viewpoint The idea that literature criticism is criticism literature and creation is the critics' consensus of Beijing School, the core of Beijing School criticism viewpoint, too. Beijing School critics do not think literature criticism is literature's appendage and they think literature criticism has independent value. In order to increase the validity of criticism the critics of Beijing School require that every critic should be scholars, writers, and readers, too.The second chapter discourses upon the significance of macroscopical critical spirit influencing on principal part's narration of modern literature. This chapter consists of three sections. The first one discourses upon the academic rationality. The fact that Beijing School criticism is scientific, professional and never turns into scholasticism is the symbol that modem criticism has become ripe. The second one discourses upon the significance of Beijing School criticism's characteristic such as "Freedom, Life, Aesthetic and Utopia". The thought of Beijing School criticism is not liberalism, abstract theory of humanity nor the argument of "art for art's sake" but an untimely emphasis of the literary purview, the sensibility of the individual and the human life. And their dream of Utopia is the belief in truth, goodness and beauty. The third onediscourses upon the value of the form criticism of Beijing School's critical text The internal focalized criticism and the critic's identity of the same narrator is fresh in the history of modem Chinese literature.The third chapter discourses upon the different effects of Beijing School critics' personal critical ideas on the modern literature thought and the form innovation of the critical text I classify critics by their particular. The criticism of Shen Congwen and Li Jianwu is a creative style that insists on the imagination of criticism and the importance of the reader. The criticism of Zhu Guangqian and Li Changzhi is a sciential style that is the theory source of new literary discourse and places emphasis on communication of all kinds of arts.
