This aim of this dissertation to demonstrate the developing course of the aesthetics thought of the Chinese calligraphy theory by studying it carefully and systematically. Chinese calligraphy theory has a long history, Which has been developing along side philosophy theory. It is an important part of the Chinese culture, embodying the cultural spirit of Chinese. According to situation of calligraphy during the Han dynasty, Chinese calligraphy theory has had its changes from the primitive spontaneous state to conscious state, the aesthetics thought of Chinese calligraphy theory was already establ ishcd in the Eastern Han dynasty.From the Eastern Han dynasty the aesthetics thought, of Chinese cal 1 igraphy theory had been consciously established. A symbol of that was the proven by calligraphy theory. The criticism of calligraphers symbolizes the aesthetics thought of the Chinese calligraphy theory establishing further in Southern and Northern Dynasties. During this period the calligraphy theory has started to develop new di rection, and hence formed a new history and rule of the cal 1 igraphy. At the beginning of Sui and Tang dynasties, the calligraphy theory played a bedding role of cal 1 igraphy to maturation and prosperity of the aesthetics system. After the Middle Tang dynasty, the development of calligraphy theory came to an overall flourishing stage. After the Later Tang, the calligraphy criticism fel 1 into a decline. The calligraphy theory of Yuan and Ming dynasties improved under the restoring flag. The middle and later stages of Ming dynasty, the scholars started paying more attention to individuality, which in turn has led to many changes in the calligraphy theory.Basing on this comprehension of the Chinese calligraphy theory, 1 divide the developing course of the Chinese calligraphy theory's aesthetics thought into three stages, namely, consciousness and establishment, maturation and development and change and improvement. Do my best to demonstrate the inner course of the Chinese calligraphy theory's aesthetics thought coming into systematization step by step.
