Shu Wei(1865-1816), whose courtesy name was Li Ren and pen name was Tie Yun, was a famous poet in middle-Qing dynasty. He came from Daxing district, which is belong to Beijing City at present. "Pingshui-Zhai Poetry" was written by him, which included more than 2400 poems which was put into 17 volumes and 2 explore volumes. Wang Tan,Sun Yuanxiang and Shu Wei Was called "three great poets" or "another three-poet in the Emperor Qianlong period" in Qing dynasty. But the academic study about Shu Wei is not enough at present. There was no monograph or a doctoral thesis about him has been published. We can only find a little analysis about him in some literary history works as well as several masters' theses. In a word, the study about Shu Wei lack of systematic, comprehensive and depth.The study method of this paper is a combination of study a person from his backgroud,vertical and horizontal comparison, text analysis and logical analysis. This paper investigated Shu Wei's family, life, association, thought and poetic theory. And it has a comprehensive analysis on this basis, try to find out Shu Wei's poetry spiritual content and artistic heritage, and also give an accurate assessment about his literary status and impact.This paper is composed of four parts.The first part is inspection about Shu Wei's family, life, association and thought.Shu Wei was born in a Scholarly government official's family. His grandfather Shu Dacheng has his own Poetry and writings, book-collections. His uncle Shu Xizhong good at poem and painting. His family has played a great effects on his literary theory and creative practice.This paper combined "chronological" and "biographical", which outlined Shu wei's "Imperial examinations", "Join the army", "Travelling" and other major life events. it give readers not only Shu Wei's life story in chronological order, but also a deep analysis about his major life events.Shu Wei has many good friends, who are also famous artist in Qing dynasty, such as:Zhao Yi, Wang Tan, Sun Yuanxiang, Peng Zhaosun, Chen Wenshu, Chen Peizhi, Song Dazun, Xiao Lun, Lu Yuanhong, Song Xiangfeng, Long Duo, Tu Zhuo, Yun Jing, Li Dingyuan, Liu Daguan, Bi Huazhen, Zhu Henian, Liang Tongshu, Tang Yifeng, Ruan Yuan, Wang Chaowu, Li Qiongying, Zheng Yufeng, Fa Shishan and so on.It is reflecting that his poetry and other poets' poetry influenced each other.Shu Wei's character is presented in several aspects:a positive officialdom, filial piety, Valiant good sense, tradition and rebellion, optimism.Shu Wei advocates that we should get rid of sectarianism. He has his own views about the relationship between reading and learning, the importance of the classics works and history, and the importance of education. There are some progressive point in it. His views about calligraphy, painting and drama reflected the expertise and unique vision.The second part is about Shu Wei's poetry and literary world of Emperor Qianlong and Jiaqing period in Qing dynasty. It is try to get a outline of literary world in that period, and try to overview the background of Shu Wei's poetry. Social issues which include the competition between several poetry schools, and the debate on the referrence of the poetry, the reflection on the reality, and the singing of poor scholars, reflected in his poetry a lot.Shu Wei advocated that a porty should contain the author's real temperament and creative practice. It was a inheritance and development of the "Xing Ling (spiritual)" school's poetry theory. And it also reflects the change about the aesthetic orientation of "Xing Ling(spiritual)" school.Shu Wei not only focus on the "spiritual", but also study and elucidated fully on the "charm". Finally he formed his own poetry, which insisted that poems are more than sour and salt, and try to pursuit a plain poetry. At the same time, Shu Wei'try to analysis poetry combined with the authors' abilities, character, and life events.The third part is aout the subject of Shu Wei's poetry.It can be divided into several categories:Ode to history poems, including his "Ode to the history of the Spring and Autumn Dynasty" one hundred and forty; Travel poems; Landscape poems; presentable farewell poems; poems on painting; chanting poems; poems about southwest; satirical poems; and others, including some miscellaneous poems, overseas poems, poems about immortals and so on.It analyzed the characteristics and the emotional expressions of various types of poems. It described the poems which was written by Shu Wei when he was in the southwest China, which focus on the "Guizhou Miao Zhuzhici" fifty-four. It evaluated the style and value of these poems, and can make readers get a clearer understanding about the southwest China.The fourth part of this paper focus on the artistic features of Shu Wei's poetry. Shu Wei is good at use poetry verses with the previous allusion,which the development of the arts with the Code. Shu Wei's poetry, particularly the long classical poems, given full play to the imagination, which is both narrative and lyric, and attract readers a lot.The features of the language of Shu Wei's poetry are as follow:the wonderful using of double words; the accurate and vivid expressions; the flash of philosophy. This part also studied the poetic style of Shu Wei, in which analyzed the content, form and reason of it.Based on the comprehensive and detailed analysis, this paper evaluated the status and impact of Shu Wei's poetry. Shu Wei's poetic theory and creative practice consistent with "Xing Ling (Spiritual)" School of the general characteristics, but also enriched and developed the "poetry writing Soul" poetic theory.He formed his own characteristics which Combined the characteristics of "spititual", "charm", "style" and "texture", and occupies an important position in Emperor Qian Long and Jia Qing period. The subject, art and style of Shu Wei's poetry affects the subsequent poets such as Huang Zunxian, Gong Zizhen and so on.
