Clinical Observation On The Therapeutic Effect Of Fire Needle For Lumbar Disc Herniation

Objective:To evaluate and summarize therapeutic effect of Fire Needle treatment for Lumbar Disc Herniation(LDH),and with a view to provide the necessary clinical evident for finding a conservative clinical treatment of LDH.Methods:With reference to the "the Diagnoses and Effect Standard of Traditional Chinese Medicine Disease(TCM)(ZY/T001.9-94)" instituted by the Administration of TCM,80 cases of patients with LDH(from the New YuanShan Clinic,Taipei,Taiwan)Were randomly allocated into treatment group (acupuncture and fire needle) and control group(acupuncture) of the 40 cases. Acupuncture treatment was gave once a day except saterday and sunday,a course of 2 weeks;Fire needle was gave once every three days,a course of 4 times.Effect was evelated after one course.Effect elevation was With reference to the "the Diagnoses and Effect Standard of TCM(ZY/T001.9-94)" instituted by the Administration of TCM.comprehensive assessment standard of low back pain disorders of JOA,Visual Simulation Scale(VAS),Oswestry Disability Index questionnaire(ODI),Prolo Functional and Economic Results of Rating Scale were used to observate and compare the improvement of pain and quality of life.Data was analysised by using the SPSS 11.0 software.Result:1.There were 16 cased cured,14 cased excellence,7 caed utility,3 cases useless in treatment group,total effective rate was 92.5%.There were 10 cased cured,15 cased excellence,8 caed utility,7 cases useless in treatment group, total effective rate was 82.5%.The curative effect of treatment group was better than that of control group(P＜0.05);the sum of cured rate and excellence rate of treatment group was better than that of control group(P＜0.05).2.The post-treatment VAS score of the two groups decreased obviously(P＜ 0.01),but there was no obviously difference(P＞0.05) between the two groups.3.The post-treatment JOA score of the two groups decreased obviously(P＜0.01).There was obviously difference(P＜0.01) between the two groups, treatment group was better than control group.There was obviously difference(P＜0.01) for the JOA improvement index between the two groups, treatment group was better than control group.4.There was obviously difference(P＜0.01) for the Oswestry funtional impairment index between the two groups,treatment group was better than control group.5.Comparing the two groups' Prolo score,there was obviously difference(P＜0.01) for functional score between the two groups,treatment group was better than control group;but there was no obviously difference(P＞0.05) for economic score between the two groups.conclusion:The result of this study show:Fire Needle is effective and safe in the treatment of LDH.It can increase clinic effect.The combination of fire needle and normal acupuncture is better than normal acupuncture for decreasing pain,improving function and life quality,.It has applied worth in treatment of LDH in clinic.
