Objective:To analyze related factors about the extent of the OPLL and postoperative progression of ossified lesion in the OPLL of the spine patients. To analyze the relativity of NPPS gene polymorphisms with the extent and progression of the OPLL of the spine. Methods:By using SNPs and others to analyze related influence factors and the relativity of the extent, progression of OPLL with the NPPS gene polymorphisms. Results:There were some relativity of the NPPS gene polymorphisms with extent and progression of the OPLL patients.ⅣS15-14T→C substitution andⅣS20-11delT in NPPS gene were significant.Three factors such as operative methods, ossification on the 3rd cervical vertebrae and the age of the OPLL patient were associated with the progression in OPLL patients.BMP2 and TGF-beta promoted the progression of the OPLL by synergism. Conclusions:There were some determinate relativity of the NPPS gene polymorphisms with the extent and progression of the OPLL patients.Besides the gene background there were other important factors,as operative method, local bone formation factors, patients' age and ossification on the 3rd cervical vertebrae, associated with the progression of the OPLL of the spine.
