Experimental Studies Of The Diagnosis Of Candida Albicans In The Rabbit Lung

THE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF COLONY COUNTING OF BRONCHI LAVAGE FLUID CULTURE IN PULMONARY CANDIDIASIS ALBICANS IN RABBITSObjective To develop the method of pulmonary candidiasis albicans in New Zealand rabbits. To quantitative culture the C.albicans of broncho lavage fluid(BLF).To evaluate it's diagnosis criteria for C.albicans pneumonia contrasting with the pathologic results. To explore the diagnostic value of colony counting of bronchi lavage fluid (BLF) culture in pulmonary candidiasis albicans in rabbits.Methods A New Zealand White rabbits model of pulmonary candidiasis was developed. Thirty-six rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. Each had eighteen and were ranked randomly. The model was formed by per cutem intratracheal injecting 0.2 ml bacterium fluid contained 1 ×10~8 Candida albicans(C.albicans) in experimental group. The same volume normal saline was given in control group. Kill the rabbits according to the sequence day by day and observe the pathology of lungs and collect BLF to do C.albicans culture and then count the colony. Every rabbits was given CT scan before injecting and killing in order to study the relationship between the counts and X-ray images.Results BLF culture colony counting has a satisfied consistence with pathology. When taking 10~4cfu/ml as cut off point the BLF culture colony counting has the diagnostic sensitivity 53.1 %, specificity 95.2%. When the cut off point is 10~3cfu/ml, the diagnostic sensitivity 78.1 %, specificity 87.5%. The counts increase as the X-ray...
