Background:The coronary artery disease is widely common cardiovascular disease in wrinkly and elderly people. Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is a more and more used technique in the therapy of some artery stenosis. Despite a primary success which was dilated by inflated an angioplasty balloon catheter is greater , the long-term efficacy continues to be compromised by the re-narrowing of the vessel, a phenomenon known as restensis, which affects part's patient. These are the most studies for the prevention and treatment of the vascular restenosis in all over the world. Mary pharmacological investigation of strategies for preventing restenosis after PCI have been tried, however, in clinical studies, no pharmacological agent has been found to reduce the incidence of restenosis. With some new technical application such as stent, drug eluting stent, the occruuence of restenosis is reducing. It is a long way to go for solving the problem completely.According to the theory of TCM, patients of restenosis have two main characteristics. One is Xiongbixintongbing,another is catheter's damage. The formation and progression are due to Qixu and Xueyu. The therapeutic principle of TCM should choose Yiqihuoxue. Objective:1) to seek some traditional Chinese herbs to the restenosis and explore the mechanism; 2) to compare three prescription's results in restrain intimal thickening of carotid artery injured by balloon endothelial denudation in rat and evaluate the value of Yiqihuoxue. Materials and Methods:The formulation of Yiqihuoxuefang were consisted of Huangqi 25g,Chuangxiong 15g and Sanqi 5g. Passing some steps such as boiling and so on, the drug solution was concentrated, which contain complex mixtures of ingredient and their final concentrations were the creude drug 90g /100ml of the more Yiqihuoxuefang , the crude drug 45 g /100ml of the less Yiqihuoxuefang, the crude drug 50 g /100ml of Huangqi, the crude drug 40 g /100ml of no Huangqi.72 male SD rats (350-450g) were fed with normal diet one week before balloon injury, then were divided into six groups randomly, including control group, model group, more Yiqihuoxuefang group, less Yiqihuoxuefang group, Huangqi group and no Huangqi group. Experimental rat balloon angioplasty of right common cartid artery was performed using a 2F Foraty saline-infalted catheter, after rats were anesthetized.
