There are obvious advantages to the transposition of the axial flap in the repair of tissue and organ defects. But its application was limited owing to the limited donor area and the remnant dysfunction it may cause and also to its subcutaneous fat and deep fascia, which make it unfit for their application to the face, neck and hand. In order to overcome these defects, prefabricated axial flaps with transplanted blood bundles have been produced to meet clinical needs. This kind of flap can offer satisfactory tissue clots regardless of the sources of blood vessels and can select donor area with least damages, if there is any, to the donor areas. They are prefabricated according to patient's needs and with fine color and texture and flexibility, they may serve as a new approach especially suitable for complex and intractable defects. There have been many research papers with varied opinions on the surviving mechanism of the prefabricated flap, but we have not seen any paper on the surviving mechanism of the prefabricated tissue flaps with cartilage. So we have constructed the prefabricated tissue flaps in the lower abdominal area to investigate their surviving mechanism. In our experiment, 55 male Japanese big ear rabbits were randomly divided into four groups: A, B, C and D. Blood bundles were transplanted into the prefabricated compound tissue flaps with the cartilage and on the 7th, 10th, 14th, 21st and 28th days, the 20 rabbits of Group A were perfused with 70 % Chinese ink low molecular dextran and the extent of stain was observed in situ. The 10 rabbits of Group B were contrasted with emulsion barium sulfate red lead to observe the growth of the neoformative blood vessels. The 5 rabbits of Group C underwent ECT photography to examine the changes in the blood flow of the compound tissue flaps. And prefabricated island flaps with blood vessels as the pedicles were transplanted to the 20 rabbits of Group D so as to observe the size of survival. Resulted showed: in Group A, only the blood bundle was stained 7 days after the transplant, and two weeks after the transplant, the area around the blood vessel bundle was stained and extended outward with irregular distribution, and three weeks after the transplant, the blood...
