[Objective]1. To investigate the serum leptin levels in obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS); To explore the relationships between serum leptin, obesity, respiratory disturbance parameters, and energy metabolism in OSAHS; To study the associations between hypertension (HT), serum leptin and respiratory disturbance parameters.2. To evaluate the effects of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) on serum leptin concentration, blood pressure and metabolic parameters in OSAHS.3. To investigate the possible relationship between leptin receptor (Lepr) gene Gln223Arg polymorphism and OSAHS; To investigate the associations between the lepr gene polymorphism and obesity, serum leptin, HT in OSAHS.[Methods]1. Sixty OSAHS men were matched with fourty non-OSAHS men for body mass index (BMI), age. Serum leptin concentration were measured by radioimmunoassay. The leptin, neck circumference (NC), waist/hip rate (WHR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), triglyceral (TG), cholesterol (Chol), true insulin (TI) were compared between these two groups. The correlations between leptin and these parameters (including apnea-hypopnea index, AHI and lowest oxygen saturation, LSO2) were analyzed.2. Serum leptin levels, TI and BP were measured before and after one night nCPAP therapy(n=18); Those subjects who received regular treatment with nCPAP were recruited to the reassessment study at...
