Thesauri Of Chinese Ancient Literature-based Ontology Modeling Methods In The Field Of Research

With the development of research on ancient literature of Chinese Medicine in these ten years, great success was achieved on digital working, two databases were built, and more than 260 ancient literature books were embodied.The knowledge-cell theory put forward by Professor Liu is the center of the database. Based on the knowledge-cell theory, technique on database has made more progress. But another question appears at the same time: when users search in the database, they couldn't find all what they want. Some information is missed.A knowledge-base should have two main parts: one is knowledge express, the other is knowledge reasoning. Knowledge express means that letter information should be analyzed into many knowledge-cell concepts then transformed to digital information and input the base. Knowledge reasoning means that digital information in database could be dealt with in deep level such as explaining, comparing, and reasoning. Users could draw new conclusion from the knowledge-base.For dealing digital information in deep level and increasing the ability of the Databases on ancient literature of Chinese Medicine, A new concept Ontology is introduced here.The concept Ontology was came from philosophy domain early. Many philosopher as Aristotle, Kant, Leibniz discussed how to classify the nature world with Ontology. In the last century this philosophy concept was introduced into domain of the artificial intelligence.Ontology is used to capture knowledge about some domain of interest. Ontology describes the concepts in the domain with the relationships between those concepts. Ontology is a key of knowledge-base.New development in standard ontology languages is OWL from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). OWL can not only describe concepts like protege but also provide new facilities. It is based on a different logical model which makes concepts defining and describing possible.The main topic in this paper is how to build domain ontology in the ancient literature of Chinese Medicine based on a subject table. Search based on subject table is a main searching language in digital domain. Building domain ontology based on subject table is a recommended method. In domain of ancient literature of Chinese Medicine, subject table came from knowledge-cell concepts. It means that ontology must come from knowledge-cell concepts either.At the end of the paper an ontology model was built as an example.
