Purpose : treatment is given to 90 cases with prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc by Yaotongling Suppository given rectally in combination with such therapies as rhythmic stepping on lumbar accompanied with toe pressure in order to observe the synergetic effects, probe into the mechanism of its effect and make an evaluation on the safety of Yaotongling Suppository for clinical use and put forward a non-operative therapeutic program in TCM and Chinese meterial medica and have a beneficial attempt for further research on clinical standard for treatment of the disease.Method: Model preparation of experimental animals is applied to observe the effects of Yaotongling Suppository on anni-inflammation, analgesia, and promoting blood circulation. Through the method of random paralleled control, single blind, 90 cases diagnosed by TCM as prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc caused by blood stasis due to cold, are randomly divided into two groups: a therapeutic group, and a control group. Yaotongling Suppository, given rectally in combination with massage done mainly by rhythmic stepping on lumbar accompanied with toe pressure is used in the therapeutic group; consulation Suppository and same manipulations is adopted in the control group; And the course of treatment usually lasts 15 days.
