In theory of TCM, spleen and stomach lie in middle-jiao. They are thought as center of functional qi-activity, resource of qi and blood, as well as the origin of the acquired constitution. They play an important role in function of Zang and Fu. Our forefathers said: "all kinds of diseases and ailments breaking out once spleen and stomach are in abnormal."Professor Wujin Feng is a chief physician of Shanxi Academy of TCM and Pharmacy, tutor of doctor, senior traditional Chinese physician, expert on spleen and stomach disease with special government allowance. He engaged in clinical research and treatment of spleen and stomach disease over 40 years with rich clinical experience. He applies "six methods" for treating stomach disease and receives better clinical effect. To summarize Wujin Feng's academic thoughts and clinic experience on treating stomach disease with "six-method" based on exploring tutor's academic origins.Part 1:To explore tutor's academic origins. Professor Feng's academic thoughts of "six methods" for treating stomach disease and forming procedure of his clinical experience were discussed. The tutor's academic origins can be compressed as follows:coming from <Neijing>, undertaking from Dr. Zhang Zhongjing, learning the essence of Dr. Li Dongyuan, formulating in practice.Part 2:Based on knowledge absorbed from advisor,books and papers of advisor, this part is the summary of tutor's academic thoughts and clinical experience on treating stomach disease with "six methods" including the differentiation of symptoms and signs, prescription and treatment, process of diagnosis and treatment, etc.Professor Feng's "six-method" for treating stomach disease includes:regulating firstly, maintaining qi-activity of stomach in unobstructed, importance of harmony, coordination, prevention, paying more attention to characteristics of every patient. These are not only the tutor's academic thoughts, but also the summary of clinical experience. This theory is based on physiological and pathological characteristics of spleen and stomach, holistic concept and treatment based on syndrome differentiation are merged into process of treatment on spleen and stomach diseases.The thesis discussed six-methods from etiology and pathogenesis, physiological and pathological of viscera, procedure of treatment etc. For example, he paid more attention to importance of harmony, aiming to coordinate and basis of people in treating spleen and stomach diseases invaded by exogenous pathogens. To discuss embodiment of the theory in physiological and pathological of spleen and stomach from maintaining qi-activity of stomach in unobstructed, treating spleen and stomach respectively, importance of harmony, coordination of organs, etc. To discuss embodiment of maintaining qi-activity of stomach in unobstructed, importance of harmony, in correlation among different visceras such as interrelationship between spleen and lung, interrelationship among spleen, stomach and liver, interrelationship among spleen, stomach and kidney, interrelationship among spleen, stomach and heart, etc. Professor Feng considered regulation as the first rule. Regulation can balance both imbalance human body and imbalance function of Zang-Fu.The aim of regulating is to keep harmonious statement of body own, between human and nature, between psychology and physiology, etc.Importance of harmony is to regulate function of Zang-Fu. Coordination is to regulate yin-yang.The aim of prevention is to reduce occurrence of diseases. Paying more attention to characteristics of every patient is to develop an individual treatment program.The paper expounds the tutor's clinical experience through discussing application of six-methods in treating functional dyspepsia (FD), chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG), peptic ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux and so on. Professor Feng emphasized on such ideas as regulating qi activities, ascending clear Qi accompanies with descending evil Qi, warming spleen accompanies with clear stomach, moistening and drying properly,both cold and heat on property of Chinese medicine, relieving Qi stagnation with pungent accompanies with lowering adverse Qi with bitter,watching pathogenesis of diseases carefully,classical prescription revised on a small quantity, collaterals invaded by prolonged illness, eliminating blood stasis etc in treating diseases of the above. The ideas of giving priority to TCM and referring to western medicine at the same time, trinity of disease-syndrome-symptom, emphasizing on basic theory of medical continuously evolving in treatment process. To reappear process of professor Feng in treating spleen and stomach diseases with six-method objectively from syndrome differentiation,prescription,etc. Meanwhile, the essay also discussed professor Feng's experience in treating Angioneurotic headache.In addition, understanding, experience in practice of my own were accompanying with each disease described above.Discussion above leads to the following conclusions:idea of six-method in treating stomach disease contains many factors such as drug therapy and non-drug therapy, treatment and prevention, viewpoint of both medical and humanism and so on. It also includes interrelationship between disease and human, relationship between treating illness and curing person, relation between Zang and Fu, relation between psychology and physiology, relation between general principles and individual treatment etc. It can serve as a guideline for treatment of spleen and stomach diseases in clinic.
