Research On Militaty Fortresses Of Ji-Town Along The Great Wall In Ming Dynasty

The Great Wall is not only a cultural heritage as the symbol of China, it is a military defensive system with high integrity and hiberarchy under a specifically system of military administration essentially. In the past the understanding and protecting of"Ji-Town in the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty(明长城蓟镇)"mainly focus on a paragraph or some kinds of defense type, while ignores the overall picture of the Ji-Town's defense system from a integrity point of view.This paper takes the"Ji-Town in the Great Wall of Ming-Dynasty"as the object to research on the building history, the strategic change, the evolution of defensive area and other issues of Ji-Town under the north frontier history of Ming Dynasty from a holistic perspective. Analyses the composition and function system of the Ji-Town's military defense system. Draws out the spatial distribution map of Ji-Town's military fortresses. Researches on the spatial distribution and the rule of change. Conclude the deep structure of Ji-Town's military fortresses and the influence factor.The Great Wall's military fortress has the big span both of time and space, involveds many fields, contains a huge amount of information. So the traditonal research method and tecnic instrument can't meet the needs. For the large-scale regional research object, the paper introduces the spatial information technology such as GPS, GIS and RS. Establishes the fortresses spacial database facing"the integrity study of Ji-Town's fortresses". Integrates various spatial and attribute data which related to the fortresses. Explores the general way to establish a space database as the information platform of traditional frotresses space. On the base of Ji-Town fortresses'spacial database, using the method of GIS spatial analysis to make multi-view spatial correlation analysis, such as the evolution process, landscape features and spatial distribution of Ji-Town's fortresses. Resolve on the Ji-Town's defensive system and fortresses from the level of historical geography and town planning. While exploring the methods of space research which integrates both qualitative and quantitative analysis on the platform of traditional fortresses spatial database.
