With the rapid development of communication technologies and Internet businesses, higher requirements of bandwidth and network services are put forward to meet the needs of broadband access. As the information network infrastructure, optical access network has become a long-term solution to the development of broadband access. Passive optical network (PON) with the access characteristics of broadband and integration has been paid more attention in the world. Researches on novel passive optical access network have important practical significance.Passive optical network can meet the needs of larger capacity, higher bandwidth, multi-service, flexibility and longer distance in the next generation, but the development of related technologies and device level is still not mature enough. There are a lot of controversies in its solutions. In order to break through the bottleneck of existing technologies and find the ideal schemes, it is necessary to study the key technologies of the next generation passive optical network. This paper is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation "Research on Key Technologies in Intelligent Optical Access Network". This paper mainly studies the key technologies of passive optical access network in the next generation on the basis of the different system structures and implementation schemes. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The system structure of OCDMA/WDM hybrid passive optical network is analyzed, and based on chaotic spread spectrum sequences using Chebyshev-map, a novel system scheme is proposed. Simulation results show that this scheme not only expands the user access capacity of the system, but also enhances its security, and the system has a good performance.2. Orthogonal WDM with the characteristic of high spectral efficiency is under investigation. A novel system scheme based on orthogonal WDM is presented by analyzing the key technologies of supercontinuum spectrum source and optical fiber grating. Simulation results show that the system can effectively improve the spectrum efficiency and is accessible to more users in the same bandwidth of optical fiber when optical channel spectrum is orthogonally overlapped and channel crosstalk is minimized.3. The basic structure of passive optical network based on OFDM is analyzed and optical OFDM is investigated. It summarizes the advantages of OFDMA-PON and an off-line experimental system is proposed. Simulation analysis shows that the system can improve the flexibility and efficiency of bandwidth but also has a good performance.4. Through the study of the light source and the colorless ONU in WDM-PON, two schemes are put forward to improve the performance of WDM-PON based on spectrum slicing technology and a variety of implementation methods are discussed. Simulation results indicate the feasibility of various schemes under different conditions as well as obvious improvement of the system performance.
