Science communication is a universal lifelong science education and interaction process for the purpose of improving civic scientific quality and achieving harmonious development of individuals, society and nature. Since the science communication was formally proposed by Bernard in 1930s, it has been extensively concerned by the scientific community, educational circles and press circles. It is probably one of the most concerns to scholars but also the study focus and goal to efficiently conduct science communication and realize ultimate goal of the science communication improvement of civic scientific quality.Taking ScienceBlogs in the Internet era as the object of study and from the perspective of SSK and communication studies, this study systematically discussed feasibility of the ScienceBlogs used as a new science communication medium to make up for lack of traditional mass media and realize interactive and democratic science communication mode. In addition, it analyzed problems and concerns in the communication of ScienceBlogs and proposed constructive countermeasures. The study focused on three factors of the ScienceBlogs, namely communication subject, object and audience. This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter I, Study of ScienceBlogs definition and functions. ScienceBlogs is an important knowledge management and communication system of scientific works in the Internet era. It follows professionalism of communication subject, scientificity of communication contents and constructivism of scientific knowledge in addition to openness, immediacy, interactivity and convenience of blog technology. Compared with traditional mass media, the ScienceBlogs has three major functions:first, extending time and space boundary of invisible college to set up a new platform for peer exchange and review; second, breaking the organizational boundaries of science communication to build a new team for popularization of scientific knowledge; third, updating communication way of scientific information.Chapter â…¡,Study of composition and incentives of ScienceBlogs Subject. ScienceBlogs subject refers to writer and publisher of scientific information. Compared with other media, ScienceBlogs follows characteristics of duality, professionalism, autonym and decentering for the subject. The subject of ScienceBlogs generally consists of scientist elite, college scientific researchers, popular science workers (science writers, science journalists and science editors) and so on. They live in a ScienceBlogs circle in groups and maintain science communication and science exchange activities by group identifications, group norms and group cohesion to contribute to science communication. Due to time factor of scientific workers, understanding of writing risks, technical concerns for blog, science policy and other factors, users have been in a small amount. Internal and external incentives shall be taken to stimulate enthusiasm of scientific workers for participation in ScienceBlogs.Chapter III, Study of composition and property protection of ScienceBlogs Object. The object of ScienceBlogs is scientific information directly expressed by the ScienceBlogs subject to the public, the most important medium by which the public understand the science and main indicator for cognition of the public for credibility of ScienceBlogs subject and community. But openness of the blog technology also brought the risk of intellectual property rights for scientific workers. It is suggested to improve the legislative system for ScienceBlogs by the government, set up strict academic norms by the community and establish a network rights safeguarding awareness by the public to jointly protect intellectual property of ScienceBlogs subject.Chapter IV, Study of composition and improvement of public scientific quality of ScienceBlogs Audience. Openess and interaction of the ScienceBlogs enable interactive, equal and democratic participation of the public in the science communication and make the public follow unity of sending and receiving subjects, information selection independence and spontaneous participation democracy. The ScienceBlogs enables the public to understand, participation in and jointly build science, but it is a priority to enable multi-channel participation of the public in the scientific activities by fully developing science communication function of the blog and broadening the channel of science communication under the condition of relatively low civic scientific quality in China. It is suggested to integrate advantages of traditional mass media and new media with the aid of ScienceBlogs platform to communicate science by multiple media; rely on the ScienceBlogs platform to gather science enthusiasts for scientific communication; attach importance to and encourage establishment and communication of local science and build a scientific communication system.Chapter V, Study of democratic science Communication Mode of ScienceBlogs. Development of science and technology has brought evolution of media technology, while media evolution has changed scientific communication mode. Media technology development has brought a dramatic change of scientific communication mode (oral-print-electronic-network communication). In particular, the blog technology in the Web2.0 era provides an opportunity for scientific communication to take interactive and democratic modes. In the operation and development of ScienceBlogs, scientist elite lack resulted by new media operation, peer review lack, controller lack and other factors caused lack of credibility so as to result in implicit or explicit crisis of sustainable development for ScienceBlogs. It is suggested to establish a comprehensive quality management philosophy and build a academic quality control system with science editor, peer specialists, science bloggers and public to ensure credibility improvement of ScienceBlogs object.
