Zhang Ruxin And Marxist Philosophy

The topic of this thesis is about the research and dissemination of Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought, which are contributions of Zhang Ruxin, a representative who started to learn and research Marxism from 1920 s. After the May 4th Movem ent of 1919, a lar ge number of excellent intellec tuals started to propagandize Marxism. Unlike the early Marxism propagandists, Zhang Ruxin de voted his philosophical talents to Marxism through all his life. He is a minded scholar as well as a productive theorist. This thesis com pares the achievements of Zhang Ruxin with other scholar s like Lida, Ai Siqi and Shen zhiyuan, and those who were contemporaries.Zhang Ruxin, a fam ous “Red Professo r”, is an im portant theorist and educationist in the histor y of communist. Hi s activities are c onnected with the revolution and construction of communist. The m ain theoretical achievem ents of Zhang Ruxin are em bodied in his activitie s in Shanghai, Yanan and the elem entary construction of socialism. The m ain body of the thesis elaborates Zhang Ruxin’ s theoretical research and its achievement in three periods:the prophase, metaphase and anaphase, and give the corresponding evaluation to each stage.The prophase academic activities of Zhang Ruxin means the time which from the return of study in Soviet to Shanghai, then to the central soviet and until the tim e in early Yan′an(1929—1940). In the autumn of 1929, Zhang Ruxin came from Soviet where he received system knowledge in Marxism-Leninism, and began to do research and writing in this field; to 1932 July, he has finished four books. Those books give system and complete reviews to the materialism and dialectics of Marxism-Leninism, also relate to the history of the theory. Zhang Ruxin referenced rich material and gave full exposition in his writing, which including classical writers and himself. All these are commendable in that time. After entered the central soviet region, he engaged in theoretical research and practical work in Mar x’s quality. Until now, we have not much material about this period, but th rough what has been found, we can find a theorist of minded, dare to speak the truth, dare to stick to principles.The metaphase academic activities of Zhang Ruxin means the time which from Yanan to Huabei, and then to Dongbei, unt il before he went to the Institute of Marxism-Leninism(1940-1952).The main contribution of Zhang Ruxin in this period is particularly reflected in the study and propaganda of Mao Zedong Thought. He made many im portant contributions, such as: first proposed the "C omrade Mao Zedong thought"; preliminary summary of Mao Zedong T hought System; The first propaganda of Mao Zedong Thought and Style. Through those, he was the first one in research and publicity of Mao Zedong Thought undoubtedly. Besides, Zhang Ruxin attaches great importance to the principle of seek truth from facts, not blindly worship; and have a clear understanding of the relati onship between personal with entire party in Mao Zedong. When refer to the relationship, he didn’t put on Mao Zedong up to the all party, but a member of the collective. Especially, he gave m uch emphasis on the revolutionary practice whic h the Communist Pa rty was leading. T hat was m ost commendable thing.The anaphase academic activities of Zhang Ruxin means the time which from he entered the Institute of Marxism-Leninism up t o he was rem oved(1952—1958).During this period, m ost of the works which Zhang Ruxin have researched and wrote were about the focu s problem in the spheres of ideology and culture. Including the research and interpretation of Mao Zedong’s "On practice" and "On Contradiction"; the understanding of economic basis and the superstructure of in the transition period; the criticism on Hu Shi’ s thought, all of these had strong tim es color. “Discussion on the Communist Party’s mass line” is one of the better theoretical works at this period, especially on the summa ry of “the problem in the implement the party’s mass line”, which reflect Zhang R uxin’s understanding of the m ass line i s profound, comprehensive. What he had concl uded, can’t depart from his exploration of theories, also can’ t depart from th e long revolutionary st ruggle experience and keenly aware of those.In the last part of each chapter,this paper give the co rresponding evaluation to Zhang Ruxin’s academic activities. During the prophase academic activities, we can find that Zhang Ruxin is a little e arlier than some others by comparing their activities in the propagation of Marx Philosophy at the same times. Moreover, he also m ade outstanding contributions in expounding Marxism systematically. During the metaphase academic activities, Zhang Ruxi n had gradually m atured in politics and ideology, and was appointed some leadership positions in cadres training institutions which was contribute to his research and thinking on the whole party and situation. In this time, what Zhang R uxin has done made him to be the firs t one in the study and propaganda of Mao Zedong Thought. Durin g the anap hase academic activities, besides teaching, Zhang Ruxi n also had m ade meaningful contributions in the elaboration of Marxism and Mao Zedong tho ught, in the thought of reality theory problems and in the party’s theoretical propaganda and education.Zhang Ruxin lived in a revolution and struggle of the tim es, some reasonable phenomenons in that tim e may seem not suitable at the current. Those require us to respect the history and the choice of the people. Zhang Ruxin’ s achievements,depends not only on his individual efforts, but also on the tide of history. The struggle of Kuomintang and the Comm unist Party, also decided the fates an d theoretical achievements of many intellectuals objectively. Generally speaking, in the long-term revolutionary struggle, Zhang Ruxin study Marxism Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought with a strong revolutionary persever ance, made an important contribution to our party and the arm y in the publicity and education work of the theory, and also made a great progress in term s of traini ng and nourishing cadres for the party, so undoubtedly, Zhang Ruxin is an excellent Marx doctrine.
