Objectives: Ameloblastoma(AM) is the most frequent odontogenic tumor. It has local infiltrating growth potential and occurs most frequently in the molar region of the mandible. According to retrospective researches, ameloblastoma is believed to arise from the enamel organ, the remnant of the dental lamina and the odontogenic epithelium. The differentiated level of AM cells remains at the cap/bell stage of tooth germ development. However, the genetic mechanism about the development and occurrence of ameloblastoma is poorly understanded yet. Till now, the main therapy of AM is extensive resection in order to reduce the recurrence. Homeobox gene is a family of regulatory genes encoding transcription factors, which primarily play a crucial role in embryonic development and the same contribution in the tooth germs. The aim of this study is to explore the affection of homeobox genes in progression and occurrence of the ameloblastoma. We expect to find valuable genes that may be involved in the course, and use trans retinoic acid to induce difference. We hope our finding could provide a new basis for further studies intending to improve the understanding of the molecular pathway of ameloblastoma. Methods: We designed oligo gene chip with homeobox gene to screen...
