Objective: To investigate the expression of IQGAP1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The relationships between the expression of IQGAP1 and the clinopathological features of HCC were discussed. The impact of IQGAP1 expression on HCC patients' survival and the mechanism by which IQGAP1 promote HCC invasion were further studied. Materials and Methods: 36 fresh HCC tissues and 112 HCC paraffin sections were enrolled into the study. The samples were divided into cancer and non-cancerous tissues according to the site that the samples were taken from. The HCC samples were cut into 5 um thick slides and the pathological features of HCC including: microvessel invasion, the integrity of tumor capsule, the background of liver cirrhosis, the differentiation of tumor cells were studied by HE staining of the HCC sections. The HCC were classified as small hepatocellular carcinoma (tumor diameter≤5cm, SHCC), solitary large hepatocellular carcinoma (single nodule, tumor diameter>5cm, SLHCC), and nodular hepatocellular carcinoma (tumor nodule≥2, the samples which have two nodules and the sum of tumor diameters≤5cm was excluded) according to the size and nodules of HCC. The expression of IQGAP1 mRNA was studied by semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain...
