The coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most frequent causes of morbidity and mortality in modernized society. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to the development of coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction. The conventional risk factors for CAD include hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking and obesity.
