Since echocardiography was developed, this noninvasively diagnostic technique has played more and more important role in diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases in only over 40 years. The value of two-dimensional echocardiography, spectral Doppler and color Doppler echocardiography have been confirmed in qualitative, locating and semiquantitative views of cardiovascular diseases. Although spectral Doppler echocardiography holds a certain of value in flow quantitation for regurgitant and shunt diseases, the detection method is complicated and tedious sometimes, and its accuracy and wide application are usually affected by the turbulence and the multi-valve impairment. After color Doppler images was used in clinical practice in 1984, it has made echocardiography a great progress in rapidly detecting the valvular regurgitation and shunt. But the value of color Doppler jet stays on the qualitative, locating and semiquantitative levels. Since a new method of flow convergence proximal to a restrictive orifice was initially reported from 1991, it has been gradually found that the method is off the great value and advantage in flow quantification. However, discrepant results have been obtained by studying the agreement between flow convergence...
