Objective: Augmenter of liver regeneration (ALR) is a newly found cytokine that could stimulate the proliferation of hepatocytes. The main biological effects of ALR include the following: promoting the proliferation and regeneration of hepatocytes, protecting the structure of liver, participating in the development of tissues or organs, immune regulation function and stimulating the proliferation of hepatoma cells. Although ALR has important and widespread biological significance, the mechanism of ALR remains unclear. If we obtain the interacting protein of ALR and identify the ALR receptor, it will be helpful to deeply understand the biological mechanism of ALR, especially the relationship between ALR and carcinogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma. Our objective in this study was to biopan the specific phage clones interacting with hALR from cDNA library of hepatoma cell, and to confirm hALR interacting protein by sequence analysis and identification of the biological function.
