Effects Of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 On The Expression Of Matrix Metalloproteinases And Tissue Inhibitor Of Matrix Metalloproteinases In Human Lung Carcinoma A549 Cells

Chapter oneThe Expression of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 and Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor in Human A549 Lung CarcinomaCellsObjective: To investigate the expression of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and bone morphogenetic protein receptor (BMPR) in A549 lung carcinoma cells.Methods: The expression of BMPR-IA, BMPR-IB, BMPR-II and BMP-2 mRNA were measured by reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The protein expression of BMPR-IA, BMPR-IB, BMPR-II and BMP-2 were measured using Western blot.Results: The RT-PCR and Western blot results demonstrated the expression of BMPR-IA, BMPR-IB, BMPR-II and BMP-2 in A549 lung carcinoma cells.Conclusions: BMPR-IA, BMPR-IB, BMPR-II and BMP-2 are expressed in A549 lung carcinoma cells. The A549 cell line shoud be an appropriate cell for the investigation of the actions of BMP-2 lung carcinoma.
