Part one Changes of intracranial pressure, brain edema and neurological function in the middle third of the superior sagittal sinus and its reflux veins occlusion in rabbitsObjective: To investigate the pathophysiological changes in the middle third of the superior sagittal sinus and its reflux veins occlusion in rabbits, in order to offer the new way and the experimental base for the treatment of the parasagittal meningiomas and the injury on the middle third of the superior sagittal sinus.Methods: Seventy-six healthy rabbits were divided randomly into three groups:(l) Sham operation(SO) group(n=7); (2) The middle third of the superior sagittal sinus occlusion(SSS) group(n=24); (3) The middle third of the superior sagittal sinus and its reflux veins occlusion (SSS+RV) group(n=45). The animal model of the middle third of the superior sagittal sinus, and its reflux veins occlusion in rabbits were established. Intracranial pressure(ICP) in 4 hours was determined by fiberoptic intracranial pressure monitor .The general state of health and the neurological functions of rabbits in 90d group were observed. The rabbits were sacrificed at the preconcerted time. The histological changes of parasagittal brain tissue were evaluated in experimental animals . The water content in brain tissues were measured by the wet and dry weight method, Sodium(Na~+) and potassium(K~+) content were measured by a flame photometer with cesium as an internal standard.Results: Rabbits can live for 90 days without neurological deficits after the middle third of the superior sagittal sinus occlusion. There was neuronal degeneration in the brain tissues at 4 hours and 8 hours , and no neuronal degeneration in 90d group.
