Part I Establishment of Small Bowel Transplantation Model in RatsObjective To investigate the surgical procedures and to establish stable small bowel transplantation(SBT) model in rat in order to study the rejection of SBT.Methods Segmental heterotopic SBT was performed on SD rats. The vascular reconstruction was to the infrarenal aorta and vena cave of the recipient. The incision of the anterior wall of vena cave is shaped'-',and the veins was anatomosised by intermittent method. An segmental jejunectomy was performed in recipient. The proximal jejunum of the graft was anastomosed to that of recipient, and an jejunostomy was created by exteriorizing the distal end of the donor jejunum with the recipient distal jejunum anastomosed to the side of the graft blow the stoma.Result The 5-days survival rate of 40 cases undergoing SBT after the model stabilized was 90%(36/40). The donor operation took an average of 42 min, and the recipient operation 58 min. The anatomosis of artery averaged 8 min, and the anatomoses of vein averaged 10 min. Conclusion Applying the modified technique for SBT in the rat have remarkblereduced the complications and morbility, thus creating a potentially more stable and practical model for experimental studies.
