Objectives: To study the effect of Kangzhitang on blood-lipid and low density lipoprotein recepter mRNA.Methods: In this study, animal model of hyperlipidemia in rats has been established by feeding food riched in high cholesterol. From the first day after the animal model has been established, the rats were continuously given by gavage to Kangzhitang by low-dose5g/kg-d-1, middle-dose 10g/kg-d-1, high-dose 20g/kg-d-1 for forty-five days, blood serum total cholesterol (TC) , triglyceride ( TG ) , low density lipoprotein-cholesterol ( LDL - C ) , high density lipoprotein-cholesterol ( HDL-C ) determination in rats on full-automatic biochemistry analyzer with enzymatic reaction: apoprotein A-I (apoA-I) , apoprotein B (apoB) and lipoprotei-cholesterol (a) [LP (a) ] concentration determination on full-automatic biochemistry analyzer with immune turbidimetry: serum malodialdehyde (MDA) concentration determination with thiobarbituric acid method: serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity determination with xanthine oxidase method: xidative low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) determination with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA) double antibody with filling method: low density lipoprotein recepter mRNA determination with situ hybridization. Results: 11 three dose of Kangzhitang has obviously reduced the concents of blood TC, TG, LDL-C, VLDL-C, apoB, LP (a) , oxLDL, MDA and the ratio of TC/HDL-C of hyperlipidemia in rats: it has obviously raisen the concents of blood HDL-C, apoA-1 and the activity of SOD: it has obviously raisen the low density lipoprotein recepter mRNA ( LDLRmRNA) , and been better than model group: the middle dose group is the most advantage.Cunclusions: Kangzhitang has the effect on regulating blood-lipid metabolic disorder as well as preventing lipid peroxidation , it shows Kangzhitang has an applied value on preventing and treating the happening anddeveloping of atherosclerosis and atllerosclerotic diseases.
