Professor WEI Zhi-zhen is a famous national-level TCM doctor, having the title of chief physician, professor, Ph.D tutor, and governmental special allowance of PRC. State Council. Pro. WEI Zhi-zhen is the first session graduate student of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, following the TCM famous doctor QIN Bo-wei to study. She has pursued the clinical practicing, teaching and researching of TCM for almost 50 years and gained abundant knowledge and experiences. She boosts great reputation in TCM circle of creating a TCM disease diagnostic and therapeutic system, especially in treating cardio-cerebrovascular disease. I have the honor of following professor WEI Zhi-zhen to study for three year, deeply touched by her rigorous studying and researching attitude, noble medical ethics, superb medical skills, and creating sprits. The purpose of this study1 Study the study route, school source and academic inheritance of Professor WEI Zhi-zhen2 Overall sort the records of professor WEI Zhi-zhen, and to discuss her diagnostic and therapeutic thoughts.3 transform professor WEI Zhi-zhen’s experience into my own clinical practice and to study her experimental formula Tiao Mai Yin with randomly control study. The method of this study1 To systemic study the professor WEI Zhi-zhen’s study and future clinical practicing route, to clarify her academic inheriting source, including school education, teacher-student education, and TCM ancient book impact; and to analyze the rule for the construction of academic medical thoughts.2. By completely sort the medical records of professor WEI Zhi-zhen, to discuss her diagnostic and therapeutic thoughts, summary her medication features, and further grasp her academic thoughts, including determining treatment based on syndrome differentiation, setting eight-principle as the root and Yin-Yang as superficial, emphasizing tongue and pulse diagnose, emphasizing both main symptoms and accompanied symptoms, treating cardiovascular disease with the ideas of treating both the essential and functional parts, treating both Qi and blood, and promoting Qi flow; thinking highly of pair drugs, etc.3 To systemically dig her clinical experience in treating diseases, and to use these experience in my own clinical practice. These diseases include arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, insufficiency of blood in brain, takayasu arteritis, diabetic cardiopathy, diabetic, diabetic neuropathy, apoplexy sequela, and edema.4 Based on TCM theory, to study the therapeutic effect of Professor WEI Zhi-zhen’s experimental formula-TiaoMaiYin and its modified formula on tachyarrhythmia.60 tachyarrhythmia patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, with 30 patients in each. The treatment group was treated with TiaoMaiYin, while the control group was treated with TiaoMaiYin removing cortex Moutan and red peony root. After both groups were treated for four weeks, the changes of electrocardiogram, Holter monitoring electrocardiogram, symptoms score of palpitation, chest distress, short of breath, and hypodynamia, attack of arrhythmia, tongue and pulse were observed and compared.Study results:The total effective rate of the treatment groups was significantly better than the control group (83.33% vs.50.00%, P<0.05). TiaoMaiYin significantly improve the symptoms of palpitation, chest distress, dry mouth, and tongue and pulse. The total symptom score of the treatment group after the treatment was significantly better than the control group (86.67% vs. 53.33%, p<0.01). The control group showed increase of untoward reaction such as arrhythmia deterioration and arrhythmogenic effect, which were obviously higher than the treatment group (P<0.05, P<0.01)ConclusionFrom this study, we can see that TiaoMaiYin has sound effects in treating tachyarrhythmia, improves symptoms, and has fewer side effects. The root bark of the peony tree and red peony root are the key herbs in the formula, and the therapeutic method of cooling blood and clearing heat is the key method in treating tachyarrhythmia.Creation of this article:Tachyarrhythmia is a common disease of cardiovascular disease, which is also a troublesome disease for modern medicine due to the side effects of therapeutic medicines and high relapse rate. Therefore it is high task to find method with both good effects and few side effects to treat tachyarrhythmia.TiaoMaiYin is an experimental formula created by professor WEI Zhi-zhen. The formula has been proved to have sound effect in treating tachyarrhythmia with no side effects by clinical practice. The experimental studies showed TiaoMaiYin has the action of resisting arrhythmia, prevent arrhythmia due to myocardial ischemia reperfusion beforehand. TiaoMaiYin and its group medicine with the functions of cooling blood and clearing heat had function of resisting aconitine-induced tacharrhythmia, and decreasing duration of arrhythmia. This provides application basis for treating tacharrhythmia from the reasons of stagnated heat. This study is a first try to explore the effect of TiaoMaiYin and its break-down formula (TiaoMaiYi reduce cortex Moutan and red peony root) in treating tacharrhythmia. The results showed that cortex Moutan and red peony root were two main medicines in TiaoMaiYin; stagnated heat was the main pathogenesis for tacharrhythmia; and cooling blood and clearing heat was the key method to treat this disease.
