Research On Sustainable Development Of Natural Forest Protect Program In Gansu Province

There was a rapidly expanding population worldwide in the 20th century. Human beings paid attention to the economic development only, expecting operations with high profits and low costs, but neglected the relationship between the economy and the nature. This resulted in many environmental issues, such as forest denudation, environment pollution, soil erosion, climate abnormity, ecological destruction, resource crisis, and so on. Healthy ecological equilibrium which has been maintained for 4.5 billion years was greatly destroyed at one time, with many of them being non-reversible. However, it is not until the last two decades, did human beings begin to recognize the significance of this issue gradually. While our world is full of poverty, disasters; worsen environment and poor resources now.Natural forest has great much to do with human beings. Our ancestors inhabited and worked in natural forests and sought food and defended enemies there. They picked up leaves for clothes, collected fruits for lives, drilling woods for fire, build trees for house, chiseled timbers for boats, carve wood for ploughs, and evolved to"humans"these days by depending on natural forests. Just when humans mastered natural forests, they destroyed forests and woods in a quite large scale. This can cause a series of ecological destructions and economic losses. Without rapid and feasible methods to dealing with the destructions, these survived natural forests will disappear within couples of years. It is this valuable resource that makes humans realizes its importance.Many scholars hold that the implement of Natural Forests Protection Project was the effect of Changjiang River's flood in 1998. But the most important reason should be the rapid development of the economy and promotion of the overall strength since our carrying out of the reform and opening policy. Our government performed the pro-active fiscal policy since 1990, which also had great effect on our Natural Forests Protection Project. This work won not only our citizens'support but also great attentions and praise from countries of all over the world. However, there was still a problem, how much did we improve on the resource environment of the project area since the last 10 years? How much did we inflect the living standards of the common people who lived in this project area? Can we make a sustainable strategy on social economy of the project area through developing projects and change environments? This essay is based on China's natural forests protection project, aiming at analyzing the influences to local economic-social developing issues and concrete factors to affect the sustainable developing problems of this project. It takes use of theories and methods of sustainable development and shows a unique prospect from a project performer and manager's view to talk about the actuality of natural forests protection project in Gansu Province. Our research checked out and evaluated this project by applying ecological tack mode and sustainable development pressure index, and put forward corresponding countermeasures with reference of the evaluation result, with the aim of offering new research methods of the sustainable development of this natural forests protection project in our country.
