Science-based mathematical models and computer simulation of alfalfa growth and production provide useful tools, with which to determine biophysical consequences of resource management options at field, farm and regional scales. In China, there were no deep and systematic studies in this area, and no models of alfalfa growth and production management system presented so far. Therefore, the introduction and sinicization of models from advanced country which has deep research in modeling of plant growth is important way to improve the research level in this area in China. The EPIC model was developed by USDA, which is one of models widely applied in the world. In this study, the EPIC model was translated into Chinese partly and simplified for the windows environment, and the simulation of EPIC was made partly in the alfalfa production in Beijing region. The conclusion is as follows:1) The Chinese version of the EPIC3050 was presented, which has a Chinese interface and simple usage and can work under the windows environment. It can output the results with there property that variables attribute to.2) The EPIC model can simulated the dynamic of aboveground biomass and yield of alfalfa, but the model was poor at simulating the measured residue.3) The EPIC model can simulated the yield of N in the aboveground biomass, but the P in the aboveground biomass can not be estimated by EPIC4) There was not a correlation between the simulated and measured of soil water content. There was a significant correlation be between the simulated and measured of soil labile P and organic, but no significant difference only between the simulated and measured of soil labile P.
