The Black Goat, with great reputation, grows primarily on the south of China and southeast Asia. Its unique characteristics lie in its rapid growth, the black, soft and thin hair on the whole body, the thick and pachy skin, a high ratio of lean meat of delicate quality and delicious taste with little smell of mutton. Besides the good quality of its meat, the high breeding rate is another outstanding characteristic. In the 9 populations studied, the average number of fetuses is over 2, some species even reach 4, which is much higher than that of the common goats of 1.9. The current blooming international and domestic trade brings the industry of the Black Goat in China a good prospect. It is believed that the Black Goat has a great potential in the export business. Thus the species identification of the Black Goat becomes an increasingly urgent problem to be solved for this industry. There are abundant resources of the black goat in Sichuan province of China. The previous researches in China are mainly focused on the determination and evaluation of its species functions variety, but there were few researches on its species origin, the heritable difference among populations and its species differentiation and similarity (Zhang et al, 2004; Zhang et al, 2005). There was no report on its hereditary constitution and genetic diversity for big populations of the black goat by using molecular makers.Firstly,, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis was used to detect the phylogenetic relationship of 5 goat (sheep) breeds and four different groups of black goat in Sichuan, as well as genetic differentiation between billy...
