In the tribological field, the study about tribological materials is always one of the most active directions, for many opportunities can be gotten to improve the tribological properties of the materials by means of designs of tribological materials.Three new kinds of tribological materials were designed in this dissertation.(1) According with the theory of the selective transferring effect in tribology, a new kind of modified UHMWPE with self-selective transferring effect was designed by using Schiff base copper complex and glycerine microcapsules with polyethylene wall (glycerol-polyethylene microencapsules) as additives to modify UHMWPE;(2) According with the principle of " artificial body should show itself lower abrasion and lower biological toxicity" in the field of human body bio-tribology, another kind of modified UHMWPE for artificial joints, which has a good bio-tribological performance and an excellent biocompatibility, was designed on trial by using Schiff base copper complex as an additive to modify UHMWPE;(3) Based on the principle of the carrier effect of lubrication of nano-scale materials and the theory of the self-selective transferring effect in tribology, a new kind of lubricants was designed by using Schiff base and Schiff base copper complex modifying polar or non-polar base oils, which is possessed of the self-selective transferring effect and the self-assembled monolayer effect.It is an innovation in the field of the tribology materials that all modifying additives for the three new kinds of tribological materials were Schiff base copper complexes.On the base of successful preparation of the pure block UHMWPE, Schiff base copper complex and glycerol-polyethylene microencapsules, which were the basic materials for the modified tribological materials with Schiff base copper complex, their properties were tested completely.SEM observed a mixed crystal structure with dendrites, strip crystal and globelike crystal in the pure block UHMWPE. When the pure UHMWPE was sliding under the condition of dry friction, its tribological behavior could be explained faultlessly by the theory of plastic tribology.
