Networked manufacture is the trend of the modern manufacturing development, it needs to resolve the key problems such as heavy network burden because of enormous data flow within enterprise and among the dynamic enterprise league, the standardization of data and data exchange and share among heterogeneous system. Presently, these problems have become the focus of researchers in the world. Using extensible Markup Language (XML) to describe the product data and other data is an idea solution for above-mentioned problems. XML is the universal language of Internet data exchange, it makes the developers describe and transform expediently the structured data and semistructured data. But XML is a self-defined markup language, it needs a criterion to define the element, attribute and the data type of the XML document, so that XML document can be exchanged and shared among enterprises. In addition, how to save the XML document? How can users access the storage XML data? These questions are the keys whether the product data is represented as XML format. Therefore, a solution must be given for storing XML document. Lastly, to exchange and share the product data among heterogeneous systems, a technology is needed: not only could it be integrated with heterogeneous systems, but also can be connected to the old system, at the same time, it has no network security risk.The product data XML Schema, the storage technology of XML document and the share technology of product data are studied based on the manufacturing product in this dissertation. Some new ideas, methods and arithmetic are presented. These ideas, methods and arithmetic have been applied to develop and validate the application of"Furniture Manufacturing Networked Product Design Center" project-which is asubproject of the National key foundation project. The main content of this dissertation is shown as follows:(1)A XML Schema of product document is designed. Firstly, a three-stepped XML Schema modeling method is presented. Secondly, the structure of product document is analyzed, and the main conceptions of the product document have been listed, then a product document diagram concept model is built based on the listed main conceptions. Thirdly, a naming rule of product document is established, then an arithmetic used to transform the product document diagram concept model to the object model is put forward, and then a UML class diagram is built based on this arithmetic. Lastly, rulesfor transforming UML class diagram to XML Schema is suggested, and the XML Schema of product document is designed based on these rules and XML Schema modeling language.(2) XML Schema of furniture product structured data is designed. Firstly, the structure of product is analyzed, and the main conceptions of the furniture product structured data have been listed, then a furniture product structed data diagram concept model is built based on the listed main concept. Secondly, a naming rule of product structured is established, then an arithmetic used to transform the furniture product structed data diagram concept model to the object model is put forward, and then a UML class diagram is built based on this arithmetic. Lastly, rules for transforming UML class diagram to XML Schema is suggested, and then the XML Schema of furniture product structured data is designed based on these rules and XML schema modeling language.(3)The storage model of XML document is studied. Because the structure and content is quite different between data-centric XML document and the document-centric XML document, two storage models of XML document are suggested, they are the data-centric storage model and the document-centric model. In the data-centric model, the relational DBMS is chosen to storage the XML document. Firstly, a mapping arithmetic from the XML Schema to the relational model is presented.
