In this paper,adding PP-g-MAH or PP-g-GMA as compatibilizer and PF as assistant compatibilizer, a serial recipe of PP/PC blends were molten blended in a single-screw and a twin-screw extruder respectively. The relationship between the microstructure and the property of the blends was discussed under different manufacture condition, different blending ratio and different compatibilizing system.The results of FT-IR indicated that the end group of PC acted with the compatibilizer and the assistant compatibilizer. Glass transition temperatures were measured by DMA. The results showed that adding compatibilizer and assistant compatibilizer improved the compatibility of the blends.PCM and SEM were employed to investigate phase structure of PP/PC blends. The character parameters can be achieved by the aid of image manipulation on the PCM and SEM photos.Polar microscope was used to observe the effect of composition on crystalline morphology of PP phase in the blend. Both the structure and dimension of PP crystalline and the crystallinity change of PP phase were measured by carrying out Wide Angle X-ray Diffraction (WAXS). Thermal behavior, kinetic of isothermal crystallization and nonisothermal crystallization of PP phase in the blend were investigated by using DSC.The manipulation of Hv and Vv in Small Angle Laser Scattering (SALS) experiments gives the parameters of correlation distance to characterize crystalline dimension and phase dimension as well as average chord lengths and particle diameters. All the results of Vv by SALS were compared with that of PCM and SEM. The long cycle L of the blends were calculated according to the I-θcurve measured by SAXS and the surface dimension of compatibilized blends were also analysized .The rheological properties of shear rate toward the viscosity and shear stress of the molten blends were measured parallel plate rheometer and capillary rheometer respectively. The reflection of molten temperature was also investigated.The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural strength,impact strength and hardness of different recipe of PP/PC blends were also studied. First making a sharp gap on bending sample, then using three-point bend method, the fracture toughness of PP/PC blends were measured by J integral principle.
