Platinum is a good catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) used in low temperature fuel cell, but it is easily poisoned by CO and the high cost which limit its application as electrocatalyst in commercial field. Metalloporphyrin compounds have high conjugated structure and chemical stability, they show good electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction both in acid and in alkaline solution. Furthermore, metalloporphyrin catalyst can avoid the voltage loss caused by the methanol penetrating from anode to cathode in direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC), which lead to them are considered as the most promising catalyst material to replace Pt noble metal used in air electrode. In this work, we innovatively applied microwave synthesis to the preparation of metalloporphyrin catalyst, and investigated the factors which affect the activity of the catalyst, and focus on the pretreatment and doping of the carbon support, at last we prepared CoTMPP/BP electrocatalysts which have good catalytic activity and high stability, and the catalytic mechanism has been investigated.1. Preparation and characteristics of metalloporphyrin compounds. Three porphyrin monomers have been prepared including tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP), tetracymenephenylporphyrin (TCPP) and tetramethoxyphenylporphyrin (TMPP), and corresponding metalloporphyrin (Co, Fe, Zn) were synthesized and characterized by EA,...
