This dissertation includes two sections. The first section includes two chapters. Firstly, the significance of the Planet Boundary Layer (PBL) research is presented, meanwhile, many techniques developed to research the mechanism of the PBL and the present situation of the PBL researched by lidar are introduced; secondly, the recent advances in atmospheric remote sensing with airborne lidar are depicted and the importance to develop an atmospheric detecting airborne lidar in our country is illuminated.Four contents accomplished by the author in this paper are included in the second section.(1) For the first time, an Atmospheric Detecting Airborne Lidar (ADAL) was developed by the author's group in China that is purposed to investigate the aerosol spatial and temporal distribution.Through the analysis of the numerical simulation calculation, the main specifications of the ADAL have been determined. System structure and specifications of the ADAL are introduced, and then the detail structure of each unit is described. Some key techniques adopted in developing the ADAL are depicted, meanwhile, the inversion method of the ADAL is introduced. At last, it was proved that the ADAL has been developed successfully and met prettily the contrived targets through experimental analysis.(2) The detail information of the ADAL field study over the Qingdao area and adjacent sea area is given, and the experimental results are also analyzed and discussed. The ADAL was flown aboard the China Marine Service (CMS) 3807 over the Qingdao area from November 7 to 11, 2005. The primary aims of this platform were to prove the feasibility of the techniques and the inversion method to develop airborne lidar in our country, and to get the techniques' reserve for developing an airborne dual-wavelength & Mie lidar in National Aviation Remote Sensing System Program; meanwhile, to obtain the spatial and temporal variation of the aerosol distribution and the PBL along flight lines, furthermore, the effects of the surface layer, topography, meteorological field, synoptic process on the aerosol distribution and the PBL are investigated and explained.(3) The detail information of "the Urban Boundary Layer (UBL) joint field study" in Nanjing city is given and the experimental results are also analyzed and discussed. The UBL joint field study in Nanjing city has been executed from July 17 to 31, 2005 and from February 18 to March 6, 2006. In this paper, through the analysis of lidar data over Nanjing city, the daily characteristics of the UBL (Mixed Layer, ML) and the Entrainment Zone Thickness (EZT) are analyzed and the differences of them between the summer and the winter, the urban and the suburb are discussed. Associated with radiosonde and flux data, what is more, cloud feedbacks on the flux, the UBL and the EZT are primarily analyzed and discussed too.(4) Wavelet de-noising to lidar signalWith the dual-wavelength Mie lidar signals, the feasibility of wavelet de-noising to lidar signal is analyzed and the problems that what kind of wavelet function and which scale are the best one for lidar signal de-noising are solved. At last, the experimental results illuminated the effectiveness and efficiency of wavelet de-noising to lidar signal.
